You can walk to Rockdale in half that. (There's also route 400 (& 410?), though you'd want online access to check real-life times.)

You'd have to dig up some of the owners - hydraulic power comes to mind as an obsolete utility.

Not as far as I know. Booting the HC-plated hire cars just seems to be one of the ride-share consequences, as hire cars are now little more than ubers.

Once they lose access to bus lanes in 2020 there'll be no difference anyway.

I had the idea point to point has ended that, with no new Hire Car-specific plates for about the last year or so? (and cars with those plates being booted from bus lanes in mid-2020).

Re: STA Observations - January to June 2018

It seems to me obvious that some of these situations where extra buses are needed to be fed in at short notice (but can't be because of the system) wouldn't arise if more people could get on the existing buses. But that (of itself) is just delaying the problem until patronage grows in proportion to...

I've seen nearly every time some person for the Airport boards a Eastgardens only 400 without looking or asking. And? As long as they use the same stop at Eastgardens, and the short-runner isn't overtaken by the one going further, there's no problem. In fact it reduces the load (as far as Eastgarde...

I wonder why they took so long to remove that shelter Probably poorly written contracts. I suspect the contracts are normally written with only the primary purpose in mind (advertising signs), with no provision for the secondary purpose (shelter at a bus stop). The stop can move wherever it wants, ...

Re: STA Observations - January to June 2018

Just wondering - if Region 6 did lose the 400/410, what other routes could they actually use the 14.5m buses on? I've seen them trialled on L28 (inward), but I imagine they're a little unwieldy on outward routes using Castlereagh St, and on most cross-suburban routes in R6.

With the takeover in July of STA inner west services by Transit Systems, what would be the fleet that they are taking over? Are they mostly volgrens or are there some others in there too? Looking at my spreadsheet, as of last week the only Volgrens were 48 artics (out of 150 of that type). Breaking...

The newest CRLs turn 20 this year. The (gas) CRBs are older, and the (14.5m) TRBs older again. The O405NHs are newer, but a few have gone recently, too. I think at the moment STA are simply getting rid of the particular vehicles they don't want.

The 2.5m wide buses barely fit particularly in Sydney when lanes are incerdibly narrow including bus lanes. Barely? There are places where they don't fit at all. To maintain a service on the Airport Line the only access open to Central is Platform 23. With 8 trains normally tabled to travel in each direction on the Airport Line, it would be difficult to turn trains around on Platform 23 and maintain the Timetable. With existing turn restrictions? No.

The Railway ramp is left-in/left-out at both ends, the right turn from Pitt St to Eddy Av leaves no real opportunity to have an opposing right turn from Pitt St to Rawson Place, and I think Barlow St is currently closed at George St.
