Re: From another thread off-topic

They won’t try again in this term of government. Perceived by the Liberals as far too damaging to their chances of re-election. I do agree that doing a few bits initially rather than the whole system would be the way to go. Sell the “headway management” well and have it work well and then good news ...

Re: Scania/Custom Deliveries

the public perception of those buses must be poor I think gunzels are a bit out of touch with reality, the public sees their bus showing 106 or 228F or whatever and they catch it assuming it’s going to their destination. They don’t worry whether it’s redfront or yellow front, whether it’s Custom or...

Re: Adelaide Bus Run Numbers

So a few Buses here and there i see with a Blank Biscuit up Front .[ And the Occasional upside down one too . If the biscuit is yellow and blank it means they’re doing overtime (usually a cut in on another shift) and they don’t have the original shift biscuit available for display. Most of Torrens ...

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

With school going back and GA train subs still happening there have been many buses shifted between depots over the weekend. I understand several BusTechs have been transferred from ME to MV. And channel 7 news just showed 1338 rear ended into the back of a RAV4 on Payneham Rd this morning. The car ...

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

When school goes back next Monday the LinkSA school coaches will be needed for school runs, so how are they going to be available for rail subs in peak? In the mornings school runs and regular peak coincide. In the afternoon school runs are slightly before regular peak but not by enough time to get ...

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

Maybe clearing the way at Morphettville for the AdMetro buses being transferred from Mile End, so that there’s room for the Sealink coaches going to Mile End?
Unless there’s been a change of plans.

Re: Torrens Transit-Sealink changes

I wonder if that will be 20 BusTechs?
Some other changes for school holidays have occurred, with 1963-1968 now at Port depot. I'm assuming to cope with the demands of Salisbury (GA) rail subs. Possibly others have been shifted around as well.

I doubt it: Torrens got the trams but weren’t penalised. They still kept all the other contract areas they had and also got outer north as well as the trams.

Re: Tenders to upgrade bus stops

I agree many are in a very poor state, many very faded signs hanging on an unpainted stobie pole with electrical wiring and tubing across the front of them. On a positive note, in the last 12 months or so where stops have been upgraded with new concrete and/or paved areas including the tactile pavin...

Re: Tenders to upgrade bus stops

According to media reports, didn’t they have $2.8 million set aside for the removal of the 1000+ bus stops, tactile paving, changing to “school services only” stops etc anticipating that Knoll’s big “improvements” plan was going to get through? Maybe those funds are now going to be used to improve t...

Didn’t the government (previous transport minister Knoll) say there would be no changes when the radical proposal was withdrawn? Getting closer to a state election, and with recently announced new electoral boundary changes in place that supposedly favour Labor, they wouldn’t be game enough to rock ...

Re: 230, 232 and 232R route and timetable change

Leaving the right turn pothook (with a sign showing 230,232) on Regency Rd just before the corner of Days Rd heading east doesn’t help. They’ve removed the bus stops (other than those still used by a school bus) but haven’t removed the pothook. The pothook before South Rd still shows 231 turning rig...

Re: 230, 232 and 232R route and timetable change

Even (1) r Days Rd, l Regency Rd (2) r South Rd, l Regency Rd as the 2 routes (230 and 232) would be better than the current arrangement, but does destroy the GoZone. But then Port Rd still has red bus stops and GoZone timetable display boxes (those that are left) even though Port Rd hasn’t been any...

Re: [July/Aug 2020] SA transport observations

It doesn’t seem that long ago when BusTechs with fleet numbers in the 1990s were being delivered to Mile End depot and we were all trying to guess what would follow 1999. Along came 1020. But we are now into the 1070 range (with 1071 hitting the road today from Morphettville). So what happens when 1...

Some Torrens shifts (across a few depots) do have meal breaks scheduled at the Railway Tce meal facility. Although some drivers might choose to go to Mile End or Clarendon St instead.

Re: 230, 232 and 232R route and timetable change

This is simply because Pym Street will no longer cross South Road, permanently. Nothing to do with Knoll’s cancelled plans: that would’ve seen the 232 (Newcastle St and the northern end of Torrens Rd at Rosewater) disappear completely.

282 is on the dead track behind Port workshops minus its engine. So I guess that will be a long term absentee from being in service.

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

Some depots so large now that they have more than 100 straight shifts on a weekday. So silver shifts and track shifts now have a different second digit to manage that. At Morphettville 6600 would be Saturday silver, 6700 Saturday track, 6800 Sunday silver, 6900 Sunday track.
