Re: Difficult right hand turns for bus routes

A few difficult right-hand turns (and a 'straight over') off the top of my head:

263 'up' - from Dunrobin Rd into Brighton Rd
265 'dn' - from Wattle Ave into Brighton Rd
W90 'up' - from Beaumont St into Daws Rd
W90 'dn' - from Wilpena Av into OG Rd
W90/91 - crossing Stevens Tce/Sixth Ave

Re: Admet 2024 timetable changes what can we expect

Those particular changes have been 'current' for some time now, the after midnight departure on the Belair line ex-Adelaide dates to 2013, and the Outer Harbor last up train was at one stage express but altered to become all stops.

I saw 1361 this morning in Adelaide undertaking driver training so all 4 can't be in Perth - unless there's another one that we don't know of.

2024 SA Transport observations

A New Year is upon us; Congratulations!! We all made it through the old one :D Reviewing 2023..... Torrens Transit introduced two Foton Hydrogen buses to the streets; 1788 and 1789. These buses are based at Morphettville depot. All electric Scania C250EB/Bustech 'VST' bus 5801 had entered service, b...

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2023

Many rear facing seats are positioned at the location of wheel arches which make a forward facing seat unpopular due to the incursion of the wheel arch into the floor space.

1194 used to be a telephone number that one could dial to obtain the current time. That service finished four years ago, in 2019. It has been recreated online at http://1194online.com/

Re: Regional Bus Contracts

The new timetables are available on the Stateliner website for the Iron Triangle and the Eyre Peninsula. Increases to all timetables compared to the current service level; Ceduna gain one bus per week (from one to two); Port Lincoln gain two buses per week (from three to five); and the Iron Triangle...

Re: Plans for Port Dock Interchange

I can't say I recall much in the way of official announcements; but having passed over the Port line on Grand Junction Rd can confirm that the connection to the mainline has been severed; a temporary; concrete fence erected between the worksite and mainline; the previous tracks removed and much digg...

Re: Regional Bus Contracts

I suspect it may have some local Goolwa-Victor usage but precious few travelling to Cape Jervis. It's good to see a new option available though, even if the loading is minimal. It's also good to see additional services for Stateliner - from what I can see comparing the new timetables with the curren...

Re: Regional Bus Contracts

I suspect that the contracted service to Cape Jervis refers to one (return) trip daily, as shown on the Sealink website at https://cms-cdn.travellink.com.au/volumes/sealink/documents/2023-2024-Website-PDFs/SeaLink_Public_Coach_Service-2023-24.pdf. It wouldn't surprise me if Sealink continue to opera...

Re: July 2023 AdMet timetable changes

I am somewhat surprised the 206 was boosted to Go Zone instead of the 528 - from memory the New Network had the 528 as a high frequency route. I wonder whether peak hour patronage justifies all these buses running to essentially the same place? My memory of the proposed New Network had the 528 runn...

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2023

While, yes, additional services could be run, my guess would be that that time is to allow the drivers to have a break before running their last outbound trip and probably a school run. Additional trips would require additional funding; in drivers wages, diesel and maintenance.

1970 bus observed today with a new validator accepting tap and go. This however removes the option of using a paper (magnetic) ticket. I guess magnetic tickets are soon to be a thing of the past.

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

1734 has been preserved and has had the double decker testing bar removed. I would suspect that the two double deck buses in the hills would do all the clearance checks they require by themselves; I doubt there any plans to add new routes to their current repertoire.

Personally, I turn my headlights on prior to performing my pre-departure check*, and typically won't touch the headlight switch until I switch the bus off next - be it back in depot, a long layover or at a Noise Sensitive Zone. * In newer Scanias (Custom CB80 or Bustech) I'll use the check switch fo...
