Re: 2026 SA Transport observations

In Tasmania there are poles looking similar to a Stobie Pole (but of a slightly different design) that I have seen in Hobart, and possibly other areas. Broken Hill (NSW) does have Stobie Poles but has close historical ties to SA - does it count?

I've added direct Metro connections for what should be obvious reasons.
I would add Wolli Creek to this list, for interchange with the East Hills and Airport line.

Re: HISTORY of ADELAIDE - BUS, TRAIN & TRAM ROUTES

I can answer the question for route TL10 - with a caveat.

Different types of bus have different destination equipment (manufacturer and capability). For an "STC" destination controller, the destination c.1999 for route TL10 read "Elizabeth/Station//Transit/Link" A single / means line change and a ...

Most likely built using spare sleeper stock that was lying around.

The bridge immediately on the Adelaide side of Mawson Lakes station was rebuilt during the Gawler line electrification shutdown, and single gauge sleepers were used on that project.

Re: Adelaide tram voltage

There are still three converter stations dating from the mid 1980's in service along the Glenelg line. I am unsure if these are capable of providing 750v. Their replacement would come at a cost, would the benefits of upgrading the line voltage outweigh the expenditure on new converter stations ...

Going purely by order of acquisition, the gas MAN buses running with Torrens Transit are first on the chopping block (I guess that 1319 will be an early casualty once the MAN gas buses are retired, as it hardly seems economical maintaining a CNG facility for one bus), followed by the early 18.280's ...

The 333 was not a bad performer per se - it regularly had a number of people on board (from my memory) however was reduced due to political ideology, along with a number of other services that were claimed to be lowly patronised, or paralelling other services. More info at January 2019 service ...

Street running may still occur in Victoria and Queensland, but I don't recall it being in the middle of suburbia.
