Bus Preservation Association of South Australia Inc upcoming activities

1 November 2020: Adelaide Hills Tour We will be tracing forgotten routes of yesteryear and having a great time in 3270 bus, which has been kindly made available to BPASA by SouthLink for the day. 3270 is a 2001 Scania L94UB, but it is unique in the Adelaide Metro fleet in that it STILL carries the c...

It's entirely possible that once electrification is complete, a new Gawler line timetable will be implemented.

As the creator of these threads, I would like to apologise if it has distracted from the intent of the Lunch Room. I really like discussing on this forum (that’s not including the trivia and word games), so if it has been a distraction (and to be fair I think it has), I am ok for them to be removed...

Never been too sure on that but if that's happening that's good, all I know is members on here have told me you just get what ever bus you are given and yet a few years ago I used to know this bus driver that would always try and get the old diesel manual buses when starting his shift so I don't kn...

Re: Adelaide Bus Run Numbers

The small signs you find in the windscreens were traditionally Run numbers when the buses were Government run. Torrens Transit display the shift number; which consists of four digits. The first digit indicates the depot, the second digit indicates the shift type and the last two digits are a number;...

[Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

September is here, the weather should start to warm up soon. Normally I'd make mention of the Royal Show, and its extra services, which would have started this Friday, the 4th. However restrictions imposed this year caused by COVID-19 have cancelled the show for this year. The Royal Agricultural and...

Back on topic please. SA transport observations. I had a ticket inspector get on my bus today, the fourth in the last two months. On a completely unrelated topic; I think that the number of people that get on the bus without paying their fare appears to be reducing. It will never drop to zero, there...

The Days Rd stops remain for AM school bus 949 (Elizabeth to School of English, Torrens Rd) and Adelaide Oval AO16 services.

Re: 230, 232 and 232R route and timetable change

Maybe once the bridge project is complete, an option would be to resume the old route via Harrison, Pym and Days, with buses turning left into South Rd, u-turning at the intersections of South and Regency or Torrens, then left back into Pym St. It would add maybe another two minutes but with the low...

Re: Footy Express Transport 2020

I have seen some Willunga Charter coaches parked in Railway Tce on weeknight football nights; parked with the Busways buses. Torrens aim to do the entirety of the work in-house so whoever used to supplement the Outer North football runs (Kanga??, Link SA??) wouldn't get a guernsey. I guess if Torren...

The existing H30 between the City and Rostrevor doesn't meet the current Go-Zone criteria at weekend nights, and during the middle of the day on weekdays. Regardless, the extension of either or both services to meet Go Zone criteria through to Paradise would require a not so insignificant amount of ...

Re: HISTORY of ADELAIDE - BUS, TRAIN & TRAM ROUTES

Interesting finding there Mr. Data, I wonder if the service was subsidised by the local council or another authority. It needs to be remembered that Mt. Barker Passenger Service, being a private company had to cover their costs from the farebox revenue. In 1995, the adult fare from Adelaide to Hahnd...

The facility at Railway Tce is DPTI owned; and made available to the contractors as specified in the contracts.

The staff toilets at Paradise have no hot water either; I suspect that there may be other staff toilet facilities that do not have hot water available.

300 without a doubt. Almost three hours to complete, and about 65km. The J1 was 2 hours end to end (in 2011) and about 50km.
