Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

^ The ex STA drivers working in R6 with Transit Systems are still on the STA award. All other drivers in Region 6 who commenced from July 2018 are on a different award and are paid a smaller allowance for driving artic buses. Almost all artics in R6 are Volvo B12's and are very heavy on fuel consump...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Number 250 I don't think has been used in about 30-odd years, although if they use that number somebody might want to go along the Pacific Highway and clean up the old signage that still refers to it (one route arrow at Crows Nest still refers to it for example). Believe 379 is now a Bronte to Bond...

The Northern leg between Wynyard and Chatswood cannot return to being route 273 as this number was allocated to Forest Coachlines in 2016, rout...

Re: STA Observations 2020

The allocation of which routes will be attached to which region would have already been finalised by TfNSW, there was a lot of work undertaken before TfNSW made the announcement almost 1 year ago, this information won't be publicly available for some time. The untangling of route sharing will most l...

^ Adding on to the mention about lost property, STA streamline the collection and return of lost property by centralising the collection point for customers, a single pick up point in each region. Regional head office for Region 7 (Ryde), Regional head office for Region 8 (Brookvale) and Waverley fo...

Re: List of Routes each STA depot runs?

The PDF timetables from the Transport NSW Info website have a number at the very end of the file name. The bunny meet could mean the following:
operator & bus contract region, transport mode or a combination.

16 = Region 7
17 = Region 8
18 = Region 9

Re: 25/10/2020 Bus service changes - Inner West

Did anyone see the link to this new network map when the news first broke of the route changes? That definitely wasn't there when it was originally released :) There are a few smaller changes that seem to show up on the new map. 305 goes past Mascot station instead of detouring via Kent Rd, and 308...

Re: 25/10/2020 Bus service changes - Inner West

The largest loser in the new network is perhaps Bayview Park. It will lose direct access to both city and Ashfield. Much quicker to get the bus to Burwood and change for a train to Ashfield than travel via the old 466 route through Strathfield, Croydon Park etc. Ditto for the CBD via route 502. The...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

The petition will not save the day, it will only allow for the topic to be debated in nsw parliament. The two debates in 2017 regarding franchising Region 6 were extremely weak, soft questions with predictable answers. Future debates about bus network changes to Region 9 and the franchising of the r...

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 2020)

They would be separate contracts with Transdev required to report to TfNSW on each individually. The TfNSW owned assets, buses, depots etc would be assigned to a particular region, although there may be provision to move them as needs require as happened recently when Transit Systems transferred so...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

AFAIK, Transdev has a 100% success rate in retaining its TfNSW contracted work when re-tendered, i.e. its 3 bus Sydney regions, the Inner West light rail and Sydney Ferries contracts. The only contract win that State Transit has had was back in the noughties to operate the Liverpool - Parramatta T-...

I'm hoping that they worked out that Chinese buses are garbage based on the Inner West trial. Correct, X will replace L and some X numbers will have the X at end of the number. I think the R6 and R9 changes will occur at the same time due to...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Let me take a punt/uneducated guess on the 500X one - it'll probably move across as it has more stops removed to make it a rapid route, a la Sydney's Bus Future , when the L2/L3 bus changes kick in? (and M50 is renumbered 508?) My gut feeling is that there'll also be a 500N in that case, to replace...
