Probably out all day on that run.

That will avoid the back door diesels and replace more polluting ancient buses.
It shows that 40 year old buses today don't seem as old as 40 year old buses would 40 years ago.

They'll be sorry. While they use German and American componentry from the usual makers, they supply their own ancillaries like water pumps etc which are not as good.
It will be absolute false economy.

You could say this is exceptional and being bought as a once off for a special purpose, not for general fleet upgrade. Glad they're not stubbornly adhering to electric is be all and end all ideology. All the same, even the U.S has or did have a buy American law that requires minimum local input to a...

Re: Parramatta light rail

It must drive people crazy seeing the new tram system going and not being available to use. It will certainly transform people's perception of the place. I do notice Newcastle's little joyride is getting rough around the edges already. Some worthless oxygen soaking life form left a burn mark on the ...

Re: West Connex Interchange Abject Failure.

Part of Victoria Rd was originally earmarked to be the F3 corridor to a giant interchange in Ultimo. The Gladesville bridge and the Interchange in Hunters Hill was originally part of that and remains the only section built. It would likely have procluded the need for this underground interchange and...

More mention of the two bus crash in Campsie on Seven News this afternoon. Looks like a medical episode with the driver of TSA mo1531 was behind it. They showed CCTV footage of mo1531 mounting the kerb as it took a corner beforehand.

Cross media ownership rules relaxed has led to this. One shining light on the Sydney front is Mike Jefferies return midnight to dawn on 2GB. He's one of the more incisive and clever talk show hosts. I remember first listening to him on 2UE in 1987 when I couldn't sleep. He sounds exactly the same an...

Apparently there was a red Sydney Explorer O305 Trux model that just sold on Ebay for around $60, lucky score to whoever picked up that as I've previously seen that model going for $150 tops. And the gold one too! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/126378198366?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20...

Luv the model of 2706. I hope it wasn't an average unit but still, looks unreal. Everyone I show is impressed by it.
Ones I liked were 2695, 2696, 2698, 2708, 2709 (high speed diff), 2711, 2712, 2714, 2719, 2725 and 2727.

Re: New Intercity Fleet Purchases/Observation

I was in a V set the other day helping my mother who struggles to walk these days and I've got to say they are not disabled or cripple friendly. They are looking out of date as a result. Rediculous is taken half a decade to take a passenger of the upcoming NIF sets. Regardless of the lack of Wheelc...

This cost over a billion and its actually made it worse for the immediate vicinity.
Knowing NSW, the inquiry will come up with recommendations on how to prevent it in future, which won't be followed.

It doesn't help when you've got drivers that really shouldn't be employed, driving the equipment hard.
We need to bring the system in the UK where driving input is all monitored.

If the sight of overhead is the main deterrent to proven trolley buses, could they not use in ground power like George St uses for trams?

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

...look at the obsession with one-size-fits-all and the reluctance to invest in higher capacity artics. Sydney has plenty of artics, perhaps too many given the keenness of the operators of the former State Transit regions to move them on. Sounds to me more like a reluctance to use them at all but w...
