Re: Political discussion
Tump has shown interest in joining the British commonwealth which would made the July the 4th Independence Day holiday make no sense if the king said yes to the request as that holiday celebrates America's independence from the British empire
Probably because he sees this as a means for him to ...

Next Trump will be demanding Mark Carney to hand Canada over so America can have 51 states
Carney can't do jack XXX without the Queen's assent, so Canada is safe.
King!
And I'm ot sure if Canada is now like Australia that even this is even required anymore.
Trump has gone quiet on ...

Re: ESR - Extension and Woollahra opening
If they do go down the start over route, what will they do with the substation down the Bondi end?
I think this is part of the motivation to build the station is that the power supply for the ESR needs upgrading to handle modern double-deckers ** before the new Tangara replacement fleet ...

Re: Sydney public transport patronage 2025
Plenty of travellers during the week not paying anything on the weekend, plus yes half price weekend travel plus the 50 per cent cap. Plenty of scope to manage supply and demand as required.
I am not sure what you mean. Most travellers would not have reached the weekly cap and they have to pay ...

Re: Full self-driving
I am thinking of Australia, the only unsupervised driverless I can think of is the Sydney Metro, but it is a train. Waymos, Robo-taxis cannot come to Australia, I think due to awkward road layout.

That photo above by the magnificent gate shows dramatic improvement in air clarity compared to when I was in Beijing in the 1980s when everything was semi-obscured beneath a thick fug of pollution.
The air quality has improved a lot, yeah. There's still smog, and it was noticeable looking ...

Tesla is also a supervised self driving, also the system would have to be able to detect the RHD of Australia. There would also have to be a system that deals with unruly passengers. Polestar, Volvo's electric company, has supervised self-driving, and maybe it could be tested on a BZL Optimus ...

Re: Locomotives on Metro railways?
There could be numerous obstacles, including??:
1. They wouldn't want diesel fumes in the tunnels.
2. Diesels would have to be certified by the RSR, by model and operator.
3. Safeworking protocols.
Ideally there would be no or little use of diesel in the tunnels as not really designed for it or ...

Re: Locomotives on Metro railways?
My point is that there remains a single track rail connection. While efforts have been put in place to prevent easy use, its still there and they have not gone to the effort to remove it. So this tends to point in the direction that they want to retain a rail connection between the two for what ever ...

On the east of the railway in the valley only, as west of the railway is a heritage conservation area, as is Bondi Junction north of Oxford Street.
There's also a potential stiff uphill walk to the station facing these new high rise residents. You're more likely to find everybody walking ...

Re: ESR - Extension and Woollahra opening
The fact that they positioned the stanchions on the platform rather than at the sides is another element of stupidity surrounding the project.
The station is within 1 km walk from BJ or Edgecliff. There is very little to justify it, so it would be best to minimise the fiasco by building it as ...

Tuesday to Thurs + weekend only numbers would be interesting.
Someone else will have to extract that. I don't know how to.
Looking back historically, the 2019 peak patronage (725 million) was the highest since 1945 (832 million) to 1950 (791 million). Sydney's population in 1945 was about 1 ...

It’s simply wonderful they’re doing this and the 10,000 new homes is icing on the cake. It will be fascination in its most pure form to see how much of the 1976 made structure ends up being utilised. I wouldn’t be surprised if the end result is all of it.
They basically did foundations and a ...

Noticed a refurbished set H39 on a South Coast service. Notably the target plates had been repainted but only had the set number as 39, not H39. Maybe a reclassification is on the cards to differentiate those when the loos, which was operational in this case, are decommissioned.
It goes back ...

Sydney M1 has rail connection to the ST network so if needed diesel and other rollingstock not part of the Metro MTCE fleet can access the line.
