Re: Railway Observations for 2022.

I've been on some A sets recently and they've been given some new announcements. I've heard them on at least 2 T9 services, they've been on since the 15th I think? Can't really remember what they said but they are different. I'd imagine the B sets would also be getting this treatment (or at least th...

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.

H15/47 have now been equipped with the new B set style destination boards. Likely a provision for the proposed suburban conversion of them, I'll try and get a picture when I can, all I've got to go off right now is a grainy image that isn't mine or public. Doors and door buttons are taped up with ye...

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.

Interesting. Shame that Anytrip was having bandwidth restrictions at the time though, north of Wyong and south of Waterfall were picking up no trains after it kept on crashing the days beforehand. I suspect the union action at the ROC could have caused some of this maybe? I'm no data wizard.

Re: PK, NC, L and R sets - What did they become?

A similar thing happened to the V sets, V60 and up were made up of CTTC(DT)C or CTTCC(DT). Something like that. At one point TEN car sets ran on the CCN. Would have been crazy to see, but looking at how the D sets are planned to have 6+4 sets it might become quite normal again.

Re: PK, NC, L and R sets - What did they become?

Thanks for the info, but I should have worded my question better. I was asking for (e.g. R12 became S29 and half of S35 (this is a fictional example)).

PK, NC, L and R sets - What did they become?

Hi all. I'm doing some reserach on the S sets and am trying to figure out which cars were from which type of train. Obviously they're mostly all gone now, but there's still a decent amount left. (plus it just helps to at least know what happened to them.) I know of NC, L and R sets eventually all fo...

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.

I believe there's going to be a lot more of these awful projects soon as some sort of big to: A - Grab more votes for the next election B - Sell off everything from the TAHE and prepare for privatisation This project is eerily similar to the Eveleigh rebuild thingy, I'm honestly sick of all these pi...

Re: Old REOs

I think here is the mother of all REOs, in a town in NSW that I won't name for now, there are dozens of old REOs for sale! Story is that the owner of these busses bought the entire REO company and has been keeping these here in a private collection, and has been trying to sell them all off for the p...

Re: Railway Observations for 2022.

Many already know, but I'll document it here. Yesterday's Port to Port S set tour was cancelled due to a staff shortage, notably a lack of qualified guards. Don't direct any blame to HET, this was a messup on behalf of Sydney Trains.

2927 is bacK?

Yesterday I was walking around Hurstville when I spotted Mark 4 O305 2927 running, stripped of paint, with passengers. I guess it was on some kind of tour? Does anyone have information about the tour?
(Got some surprisingly good photos of it too!)

Reading this worries me about the new B set PIDs, if the rail network gets privatised they'll certainly be playing advertisements.

is it actual paint? Almost everything these days seems to just be some big sticker slapped onto the side, just look at Melbourne, especially the HCMT. Tons of those cars have horrible air bubbles under the plastic.

One of my friends saw T122 tonight, and it's still got the OD markings!
Not scratched off, not peeled off, they're just there, even relocated for some reason.

Blue/Purple guard lights on trains.

General discussion for the guard lights. Interestingly F1 and W3 have guard lights fitted to them, yet I don't think they ever had them while in service. Were they just added on for safety reasons? Tangaras are also slowly recieving new guard lights, with the older purplish ones ontop of the doors b...

Re: Kempsey Bus Crash - Rare Video Footage

In the railway world reusing parts from fatal accidents isn't unheard of at all. There's hundreds of instances where damaged rolling stock has been stripped for parts to use on others, or to just be rebuilt or repurposed.

Just got back from a walk around Woronora, and found a rather delapidated stop that had ol Connex Southtrans and maybe Connex NSW signage! https://www.google.com/maps/@-34.025045,151.0488305,3a,15y,81.55h,87.49t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1st2yvfCUbI5uKImkxxiFkWQ!2e0!5s20130701T000000!7i16384!8i8192 You have...

Wow, what a week. Staying in Uralla right now, thank you all for your helpful information. One of the highlights was flying along to Petrie on a rush-hour EMU, lights flickering, motor roaring, horn blaring, carriage rattling, the whole nine yards.

Weird bridge/abundment thing near Arncliffe

Quite confused about this thing between Arncliffe and Wolli Creek, it's some sort of abandoned bridge between Arncliffe St and the Princes Hwy, flanked by Argyle street at the south end. Property signs say Sydney Water owns this. Bricks and whatnot look rather old, so my best guess is that this COUL...

I believe that was A01 and A02 when they were first shipped down here, the doors kept freely opening and closing, as well as many other defects.

Re: Waratahs at the bottom of the ocean?

Ah yes, the old Darling Harbour wagon story. I think there's a photo of one being lifted out of the harbour. I'm guessing that this Waratah sinking is nothing more than a myth, kind of like the dumping of rattlers in Homebush Bay.
