Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

What was the maximum frequency intended after the upgrade of the Airport line, compared to the line capacity now? It is from 10tph to 18tph with upgrades to the current signalling, which doesn't include further upgrades with the proposed digital signalling. Really? It has trains 3 minutes apart alr...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

I thought the plan was to funnel everything through the Airport tunnels given there will now be extra capacity, and to free up extra space much needed for the T4? Have the Airport tunnel signalling upgrades been delayed? What was the maximum frequency intended after the upgrade of the Airport line,...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

Currently 4 min in peak (15 per hour) and 10 min off peak (6 per hour). Many of the initial boards outside stations under construction touted 3 minutes. I would very much like to see off peak increased to 7.5 mins (8 per hour) of even 6 (10 per hour) since this is now a CBDservice. I think they wer...

Yes that's correct and they are both in regular timetabled use.

I was referencing their relative location (to the CBD) and purpose rather than design.

Apologies for any confusion.

Think of Central & Barangaroo like Central & Martin Place on the ESR.

Re: Bus Observations 2024.

Provided of course they are suitable for such routes (I.e.: height clearances). I presume that routes have to be engineered and approved for double deckers. They can't just run anywhere like single deckers. If extra capacity is needed at short notice, artics are the answer. Routes also have to be c...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

You wouldn't catch it from Castle Hill to the city because it's quicker by metro. Whilst I don't doubt people close to Castle Hill Station will take the Metro, the bus is not as slow as you may think. The off peak 610X running time from Castle Hill Station to Wynyard is 34 minutes. From Baulkham Hi...

Or would there be a push to cut the 610X back and instead, and instead have more Route 600 services run from Baulkham Hills to Castle Hill, and then interchange for metro?
Good luck with that.

Hopefully not the ones that carry standing loads like the 610X, much of which they pick up (inbound) well south of Castle Hill.

Re: Rail Observations 2024

I should point out though, that the Metro closes just as often on weekends as the suburban lines! Very often at the same time as other lines. (And I don't mean just for the extension testing recently). Having said that they do seem to make more attempts at short-workings or running a reduced train f...

Every line in Sydney has been closed regularly on weekends for the last 40 years, more so than any other system I know.

They must have been doing something during all of those possessions (I hope).

Re: Parramatta light rail

Operationally I'd think it would work better (assuming no shunt was built) if a terminating tram from the east pulled forward then reversed, as the following tram could then get into the platform, if they were that close together.

Happy to hear other ideas though.

Re: Parramatta light rail

I think if they are going to reverse trams there, it might have been better to put the crossover to the east of the stop. The problem then is passengers travelling east have to know which side to board their tram. and, I should have added, that is more problematic because they are side platforms th...
