Re: Parramatta light rail
I'm told that on Thursday four trams were being tested between Rosehill and Carlingford during the daytime.

Re: West Connex Interchange Abject Failure.
Oh dear you've really fallen for the motorway con "all we need is one more missing link". There's always one more, they design them that way !! No, it's part of the same scheme and it's currently under construction. It's not an afterthought to try to correct problems from the first ...

Re: Rail Observations 2024
I should point out though, that the Metro closes just as often on weekends as the suburban lines! Very often at the same time as other lines. (And I don't mean just for the extension testing recently). Having said that they do seem to make more attempts at short-workings or running a reduced train f...

Re: Rail Observations 2024
Every line in Sydney has been closed regularly on weekends for the last 40 years, more so than any other system I know.
They must have been doing something during all of those possessions (I hope).

Re: Parramatta light rail
Operationally I'd think it would work better (assuming no shunt was built) if a terminating tram from the east pulled forward then reversed, as the following tram could then get into the platform, if they were that close together.
Happy to hear other ideas though.

Re: Parramatta light rail
I think if they are going to reverse trams there, it might have been better to put the crossover to the east of the stop. The problem then is passengers travelling east have to know which side to board their tram. and, I should have added, that is more problematic because they are side platforms th...

Re: Parramatta light rail
Trams 2161 & 2167 were being tested at Westmead terminus tonight 20 March.
Variable message signs around Parramatta were advising that tram testing starts on 21 March. Not sure why that date is mentioned.

At least we can hope that they don't let the rail corridor disappear like they did at Ropes Creek.

Re: West Connex Interchange Abject Failure.
The whole problem is that the harbour tunnel is not yet complete. Until then, cross-harbour traffic has to use the Anzac Bridge. Until then, we have to sit it out. The government should at least work to facilitate bus movements, even though that will be at the cost of making general traffic even wo...

Re: West Connex Interchange Abject Failure.
:D I find on the drive from the M5 to Pyrmont the exit sign is ambiguous. It doesn't help that Google Maps seems to drop out through the tunnels. I found the only little bit of ambiguity was some lapses in reaffirmation that you were still on the M8 once you'd left the M5. The M what? I'm just glad ...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
I've always wanted to know why the so-called 'shopper hopper' routes exist and when they were introduced - unlike with Metrobus, NightRide or T-Way routes there seems to be very limited information on their purpose. In former Region 13 for example they were introduced in the late 2000's as remnants...

Re: NSW Bus Industry Taskforce announced
Is there anything to come for Outer Sydney or is this another disappointment where regionals continued to get shafted? The only information I've come across so far is for Sydney as usual No Newcastle, Wollongong, Central coast information :?: You can read the report here: https://www.transport.nsw....

Re: Ferry Observations 2024
I don't know if it has been reported previously that F3 services now run every 20 minutes (instead of 30 minutes) as far as Olympic Park during off-peak hours on weekdays and also during the day on weekends. To fix the significant over crowding that has resulted from the introduction of the new and...
