Well they still had to have a guy remotely controlling it in the end.

What a joke, and they won't even trial my Trailerbus that has an onboard driver rather than controlling it remotely like theirs.

This is the email I sent to ESCAP today <www.unescap.org> With the increase in the number of electric bikes and scooters perhaps a more adventurous country than Australia may build a speed limited Trailerbus. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/71a560b7-883c-4341-bcda-ccf7a72cc992/Trailerbus-with...

Re: Electric bikes etc.

Although the Trailerbus would be speed limited , because it would stay on the main drag with stops only every kilometre, a trip from door to door on an electric bike etc. would be faster.

Re: Electric bikes etc.

The number of electric bikes etc. seem to have doubled in the last year and I am not sure if people would be prepared to leave them at a bus/train stop but would prefer to take them to complete their trip. As they all go different speeds the rule should be that if you hit a pedestrian or anyone slow...

Re: Parrahub and Sydney to Melbourne Maglev via Canberra

After reading it is best to work out your income before trying to work out the cost, of which there has been nothing of this scale ever been built to compare, I sent this email off to the Premier where the NSW state government will buy a 40% share in some cases to relieve the housing shortage in Syd...

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... Again

China is hopeless at maglev and Japan is hopeless at tunnels so why don’t they swallow their pride and work together building Sydney to Melbourne perhaps with American innovation. This is interesting the compound annual growth rate from Bloomberg https://www.bloomberg.com/press-releases/2022-09-12/m...

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... Again

You are only thinking about an uneconomical passenger train that leaves us stuck with 700,000 B doubles on the Hume per year and as Sydney and Melbourne grow and more time sensitive palletised we will be looking at 1,000,000 in ten years or maybe A doubles but the wear on the Hume will increase. If...

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... Again

We need to build high er speed rail linking towns within a certain radius of Sydney, perhaps encompassing the ACT, but no further. Any further, fly, just fly. Maybe look at the more advanced and superior Queensland for their tilt train idea with electrifying further afield. There is no excuse to ha...

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... Again

High speed freight won't work for the same reason low speed freight doesn't. For time sensitive stuff it can't wait for overnight, it's on a plane and already delivered. For less time sensitive goods it won't work for the same reason as existing rail - too many additional touch points loading and u...

Maybe not in my lifetime but sooner or later it will as it is better than wasting money on buying up surface property for HSR which is uneconomical anywhere in the world as it is too slow and cannot take an overnight container train to reduce daytime fares.

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... Again

High speed rail scam again....Oz population is not enough to make HSR financially sustainable as major population centres have fewer than 20m people combined and stops are not integrating into major international airports. it is too expansive to build 350/300/250kph lines here unless you dont care ...

Japan is great at SC maglev but poor at tunnels where China is the reverse, as Australia is short of money and workers perhaps China could build Parrahub to Melbourne improving their methods with robotics and later Japan build a multipurpose international SC guideway that can take a 700 km/h overnig...

Re: Capacity difference between buses and trams?

I know track specification constrains rail vehicle axle load, but why is the acceptable axle load greater for a tram than a bus of equivalent size. Do trams really have more capacity for a given floor area than do buses? Steel rail usually has a higher axle loading than a bus axle but this can easi...

Evidently they are not going to use what I suggested so I suppose they will drive below the harbour with a roadheader. I suggested to them that they drive at 5% grade so they have plenty of cover to go beneath the harbour as road traffic can easily handle that grade and in the future there will be e...

Germany was going to trade with Russia while they went green but Donald Trump wanted to sell gas to them so he stopped the Nord 2 gas line so Putin had nothing to lose.
Now the world is spending just as much on defence as going green while the poor countries starve.

Electric bikes etc.

As cars have to keep clear of bikes so also should any sort of bike and scooters have to keep a good distance from pedestrians regardless if it is electric or not.

This will allow electric bikes and scooters while stopping bikes of any sort flying past us oldies.
