Re: Western Distributor - Road Network Improvements
It seems like a very minor issue to me. I am unfamiliar with the specific history of the 501's routing, but it seems that the only reason for the route dog-legging through Miller Street goes back to before the Anzac Bridge was built and the route crossed the old Glebe Island Bridge. Anyone heading C...

Re: Do you get provided with a guide of where bus stops are?
It strikes me as a bit odd that the companies haven't championed some sort of GPS app which drivers can be provided with, especially given the shortage of drivers and length of time taken to train people on a route. Forgetting where to stop, or getting lost, is probably one of the biggest reasons th...

Re: TfNSW referred to Police for hindering investigation
The murderer's LinkedIn profile is still visible to me. It says he worked in RailCorp security from 2007 to 2012. Methinks he had made some mates in the TfNSW investigations department who were covering up for him to stifle any internal investigations (hence he got off for several instances of sexua...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
As a casual observer on this thread, I'd be interested to know why the fixed bogie design was selected over the swivelling bogie, and what advantage is there for one or the other? Is it just cost of maintenance? Can you help me out Tony? Just as an aside, it doesn't auger well for the CAF new regio...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
It amazes me that they don't appear to be considering using some of the CSELR X05 rolling stock (split in half) on the IWLR. I'm sure it would be feasible to run them on the line. From what I understand there'd be a minor gap + step up/down, which would be unacceptable for permanent service/fulfilli...

Re: Brisbane 2032 Olympiad
The lack of hugely expensive transportation projects which were build with the Olympics as the sole reason is probably one of the reasons that Sydney's games wasn't a financial disaster like most games since. It is true that the 2000 Olympics ended up costing NSW taxpayers $2 billion in today's mone...

Re: AES Ticket Validators
Maybe contact the Sydney Bus Museum, they maybe able to assist with the base plate for the green machine. It will be harder to find a datafare 2000 console and even more so to find the base plate for one of those (different to the base plate for a green machine). They actually sell them at their sh...

Re: AES Ticket Validators
Yeah, you'll need to find a bus with that connector and then a Datafare 2000 terminal. I read that someone was able to power it using 12 or 24 volts (can't remember), but because it requires the Datafare terminal to do its magic all it did was turn on and go boop beep with the red cross illuminated....

Re: Sydney’s public transport growing back differently post-pandemic
If I were unemployed, I would rather stay in the city to undertake a job search for permanent employment. You'd have to be mad to uproot myself from a stable living arrangement (e.g. living with parents, no rent paid) for a 1 or 2 month fruit picking contract on minimum wage, with most of your pay g...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening
The 392 (which I have an interest in, because it's my main city bus service) is half baked and the way it's set up really makes the interchange unpleasant. I've ridden the bus to the city a few times on the way to work over the past two weeks, and I definitely wanted to try the light rail...but the...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening
I do wish they'd make the interchanges easier on the bus network. Changing from buses at Taylor Square towards Randwick is going to be a right pain in the arse. Please clarify. Changing from what buses? The only bus service from Taylor Square passing the light rail corridor (the 396). If you want t...

I do wish they'd make the interchanges easier on the bus network. Changing from buses at Taylor Square towards Randwick is going to be a right pain in the arse. Same goes for Bunnerong Road services heading citybound with at least two crossings required. The Bunnerong Road example, I brought up in L...

I saw someone who looked like a Metro rep with a dustpan and broom standing around looking at their phone this morning near the front of the train. I suspect this may have been the 'backup'.

Re: The New Tram/Light Rail Line
First off, COVID has been a thing since the light rail lines started, so there hasn't even been a chance to actually get loading figures to adjust the bus network. Second, the #SaveOurBuses light rail whingers and moaners seem to believe that the existence of buses along the light rail corridor is p...

So if there was a major accident that closed the Eastern Distributor, passengers on express buses would be free to just tell the driver 'lemme off'?

AES Ticket Validators
I've recently gotten my hands on a green AES Prodata ticket machine. Just wondering if anyone here would have some idea on how I might get it to fire up again and at least get the mechanism dipping tickets? From what I understand once the Datafare 2000 driver consoles were replaced with the new Wayf...
