Re: STA Observations April 2014
Spotted alot of ex sta mercs on a property in Oakville in very desperate loking condition. Alot of other models aswell including what looked like an old bedford, a merc 0305 Bendy (for sale), a Merlin which looked like it had the old kirklands Lismore livery. A bit of an assortment there. Is that t...

Are you sure its owners didnt drive it home to SA from the trip as it hasnt been seen in UK as far as we know since 1976?1whoknows wrote:An aussie flexible was indeed exported to the UK in the mid 1970s and there were a number of sightings of it at the time.

Flxible Clipper MMG819L, formerly RVC295
SA numberplate RVC295 visible in the blind box of this Flxible - is it a genuine Aussie example in the UK or just an old numberplate stuck onto a US import in the UK? Photo comments show this bus was just a stone´s throw from Earl Court in 1976! <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/92215343@N0...

Re: Busways And Rowes Bus Services
Wonderful to see colour photos of these Merlins as imported and then freshly repainted - not seen any good pics of the Rowes & Seargent´s ones here before. The floors were good quality ply with ´´Treadmaster´´ , a dense cork, permenantly glued on top. I am amazed to read that one bus had a gap t...

Takecare to identify the brand of engine + gearbox fitted to your bus, chances are its not original. Some had Volvo or MAN engines with various different gearboxes replacing the original Leyland 510 turbo

This bus still exists today in very weathered condition with the Queensland collection, still in its final Surfside livery.Construction number 00161,it is one of the earliest survivors and well worth restoring properly having travelled so far and generated the interest that resulted in the assembly o...

Fraser Island tour Atlantean + Bedford
I rode these 2 buses on a day trip tour to Fraser Island in October or November 1988. Can anyone here please tell me the fate or current status and former UK registration of the Atlantean 039OVS? http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e113/SMS369/d030.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e113/SMS369/d03...

Re: The Bristop Leyland Titan PD2, ex. London RTL547 (TV 502
I am glad to see RTL547 is still legally roadworthy although it certainly has suffered some unsightly panel damage to the front nearside corner in Sydney. Herbert´s pictures of it in 1982 show just how well kept it was in WA back then, after so many years it is a shame that it no longer was wanted in...

Re: Another Merlin at Ipswich: 26.09.1976.
Please do share some photos of it as it is now, I wonder how well that 20 year old Pioneer paint is holding up? Will you be keeping the interior preserved as it is now or is this bus for a commercial venture? This bus still has the panels screwed into wooden fillets as far as I know so its one that ...

Good quality conversion using original driver cab panels and windows to cover the front entrance over plus fitting an original offside diesel tank + panel neatly on the nearside - a joy to see this, any views of the other side?

Wonderful photos! I would be very grateful to see anymore pre 1990 general views of the depot or of Merlins out on the road? http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e113/SMS369/MB378.jpg This was the day in July 1988 that I had an amazing blast down the highway in this Merlin which was being test driven b...

Can also see the bottom part of a 3,5 or 9 which would be the 3rd or more likely 4th digit of the number so 2159 does fit!Herbert wrote:There's a "2" visible above the o/s wheel arch - so could it be ex-2159 which was reported as being an airstrip control tower at Whim Creek?

Wonderful photos, great to see these buses looking nearly new. Its a shame the Fleetlists Leyland Nationals page has gone because I would like to be able to tie up these Deanes plates to their Surfside identities that I remember so well.

Leyland DD 1804??
1804 doesnt appear to be listed as a Leyland in the fleetlists - the owner maybe a joker putting what looks like a fleetnumber but maybe their home address on the side of the bus! These photos were taken in SA recently I am led to believe by a non bus enthusiast - anybody know the true id of this bu...

Re: Tasmanian Transport Museum's Leyland National Ex MTT #60
Its a joy to see such an original looking well cared for Leyland National, a strong contender for the best preserved example of the breed in Australia. Not too many rivals that I can recall except one in Melbourne and the ex-Surfside one in QLD.
