Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

From the above map, it seems that the 500X will be both terminating and commencing from the east side of West Ryde Station.

Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

So what’s happened at N since the changes.

Surely there must have been a fair outflow of buses from there given the influx of bendies.

To date, only two Volvo B12s seem to have gone ... one to W and the other to F.

Is it my imagination, or are most recent transfers into and within STA, vehicles with odd numbers.

What is behind this ?

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020

Okay ...maybe I should have clinked on tonyp's busnews link before writing the above post.  The busnews article mentions that a bloke named Peter Murley now owns Gemilang Australia...or rather that he is the sole director of the company. It seems he was 50% owner of Gemilang Aust for 10...

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020

So... the owners of Gemilang here in Australia also own Gemilang in Malaysia? Also, of interest, their Aussie website make reference to them building buses in western Sydney. I know Wales at Smithfield did give the STA double decker 'daffodils' a bit of a touch up before they were delivered to Mona ...

Fleet Lists - fleet changes

I've been noticing lately that, in the fleet lists, where fleet changes have been made, there often appears to be no changes actually evident in the search facility. Normally when selecting 'changes' for either a fleet or a State, the list comes up, if there were any changes for the selected period....

Re: The death of Metrobus.

Don’t mind the pensioners who relied on the bus by its colour etc. How did they ever catch the right bus before that!? I'm guessing, from that comment, that you don't get out on public transport much. Pensioners often have poor eyesight and are easily confused when it comes to public transpo...

Re: The death of Metrobus.

The death of metrobus is simply an act of bastardry by the current NSW government. It was a Labor government initiative that seemed to work and was popular with the people. The incoming government wouldn’t have any of that, so they set about dismantling it as soon as possible. Apparently one of thei...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

With reference to the reorganised northern beaches allnighter services, I note the following ... 1. The BN1 service, which I am assuming, is thus named so that it didn't quickly acquire the nickname of the Bin bus, which, on Friday and Saturday nights would be appropriate! ... I digress ... the BN1 ...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I think you'll find that load numbers will start to taper off over the next year or so. I think they're kidding themselves if they think passengers are going to switch buses several times per overall trip and be happy about it. Take for example, in the middle of winter, passengers shuffling off a ni...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7

I reckon if I was in a position to sabotage the STA system, this is the path I’d take. So now with region 7 they continue this stupid habit of insisting that people interchange on many routes. I predict that in about 20 years time the NSW government if the day will come up with an amazing plan to li...

Re: What happened to King Brothers?

My understanding of the Kings/King Bros operation is this ... Kings were a family operation in Kempsey, NSW that had operated well before the 1990s, possibly back to the 70s or before. They had an operation of around 20-30 vehicles at the time. I recall them pouring quite a few new Nambucca bodied v...

I know for a fact that at least one unit was delivered with the driving lights.
I never sighted it personally but did see a photo of it in a bus magazine somewhere.
From distant memory it was either on Olympics duties or being operated by K depot.

Re: The last manual route buses in Sydney

Baxters fleet of Bedfords in the 1980s would have been largely manuals.

Western Road Bus Service had a fleet of Volvo B6FA route buses purchased in 1984.
Were these manuals?

Karen and Heath at Fairfield also had a fleet of manual Bedfords on route work for many years.
