Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

And while I’ve got the opportunity to look back on past messages and also see what has been said in other groups by Tony. Again. I wanna say this: 80,000 people signing a petition against the proposed bus changes, out of approximately 900,000 people and growing who are living in the south east of Sy...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

CBD&SELR has turned out to be an ill-conceived, badly planned, badly implemented dog and rightly so the government should get a kicking for it. I’ll agree that it’s been badly planned and implemented but I will call bull that it was ill-conceived dog. The intentions of building the line and bringin...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

Likewise I suspect modern light rail has seen it's time in the sun as cities sought high capacity, more environmentally friendly and quiet solutions. Cheaper electric buses will fulfil many of the objectives without the infrastructure cost. So why are many cities worldwide still continuing to build...

Here's a FB link to the 7news report from this evening: https://fb.watch/1miQyLaduM/ And this is EXACTLY the sort of stuff I was going on about in another post and it seems my fears have been realised! If they can't even commit to this now, what hope do other possible tramway extensions have?! From ...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

Labor members resolutely confirmed their party's anti tram attitude and I don't think we'll see a future Labor government introducing trams anywhere any time soon. Honestly I don't even see THIS government or any future Liberal governments introducing more trams either. Not since they've been sucke...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

Why would you want to prolong even further the existing agony when there are alternatives that will do it much quicker? The only reason for extending L3 to Maroubra Jct is to connect with the proposed SE metro. With a bus interchange already established at Kingsford, it is pointless to create anoth...

Re: Parramatta light rail

I don't think it's worth speculating about future light rail routes. The mode has only few very specific and quite short distance applications in the Sydney context and in fact I think all the possibilities for it in Sydney have been already explored and implemented (either completed or in process)...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

I am so frustrated as anything right now. Because I just know that so many asshats are gonna try to blame all of today’s messes on the trams somehow even though it wasn’t even their fault, and this why they should’ve never been brought back etc. Accidents happen, but every nitpicking gunzel and keyb...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

I can't understand why they don't run the buses through those platforms already. It must be a political decision. It took a while for buses to use the Haymarket stop interchange but they're using it now so, in time I have no doubt buses will be using the interchanges soon. Maybe enquire with the re...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

Clearly something else was going on here than just a simple fire alarm. Really could not care less anymore. Just waiting for our Lord and Saviour Howard Collins to change the culture of micromanagement in Transport so then tram operations can be more flexible, and maybe then every uptight guznel can...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

An interesting before and after video along L3. Note the tram left behind at the traffic light, never to be seen again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX3zmfWNsxc Never mind the fact that if you look closely the T light gave the tram the all clear and there was a very good chance the tram was just...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

The light rail is so pathetic the way its run right now. The govt should get rid of transdev and replace them with someone else who will run the light rail properly. I demand that you retract this idiotic and insulting statement immediately. You clearly have no idea how situations like this work, a...

I've honestly really given up caring. They can run the system whatever way they want to as far as I'm concerned. There's still the chance times will improve in the future especially post June once the bed in period finally ends. But I'm over it. It's not like current performance is gonna stop the po...

The last tram has FINALLY arrived at Randwick. Hope this means the trams will now be handed over to TfNSW and given their 2200 fleet numbers. The legacy of Sydney's original tram numbering must continue! https://www.facebook.com/SydneyLightRai ... 600072896/

Rarely do I agree with STMPainter2018, but this is nitpicking. I think you'll find that you and I agree on things far more than you think. Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Is Transdev really the weak link, or is this just ill-informed finger pointing? If they have been awarded a contract that doesn't incentivise them to go above and beyond or has easily attainable KPIs, hardly their fault. No it's not Transdev's fault. I know of modern Sydney tram drivers who've talk...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Found another of the "stupid" features of L3 today. Trams arriving at the Juniors stop become NIS for the short trip up to the shunting neck, and then back to the platform. They wait in the platform showing NIS, and don't change to L3 CQ until after they leave. I watched a couple of pax waiting on ...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Point 4. I’m excited to see how the Kingsford interchange goes. The Randwick terminus does NOT excite me at all with the prospect of interchange. So poorly designed. It’s great for stops at Royal Randwick, UNSW and the hospital. I really do struggle to see successful interchange from buses. Blame c...
