I recently became aware of several small private bus operators between 1949 and 1960 with a bus service from Sydney Airport and Zetland
on route no.233. This would have been prior to the International terminal being built. I am interested in finding details of the buses that
operated on this route.

Re: Small bus companies of the 60's & 70's. Part 2.
I have plates m/o 4371 and m/o 4477 with Marrickville Bus Lines which must be the ccmc Bedfords. The plates m/o 223 and m/o 229 were more likely on later buses with Holman. I think I have covered most of the buses you originally mentioned.

Re: Small bus companies of the 60's & 70's. Part 2.
I have found some information on above buses from Australian Bus magazine July/August 2008. Apparently there were 3 maple leafs m/o 79,813 and 901. m/o 79 was reregistered as m/o 768 and m/o 855. a further three Chev's were acquired in the late 40's as m/o 021,m/o 762 and m/o 854. Centralian can you...

Re: Small bus companies of the 60's & 70's. Part 2.
Thank you for your information. I did have details of the white on m/o 127 plates. I also noted this plate was on a Bedford Vam in 1970 with Tempe Bus Service. I do not think m/o 222 was on a Marrickvillle bus as I can remember that plate was on an Albion with Punchbowl Bus Co. in the 1950's which I...

captainch- I am interested in finding details of buses in the era you refer to. Do you have registration details of the 9 buses referred to on route 222 Sydenham to Dulwich Hill.

Re: What happens when the mo plates run out
m/o plates have been issued from m/o 001 to m/o 9999. However there is plenty of room for reissue these plates when registration expires. STA buses use the ST prefix so there is scope for using the m/o 2000 to 3999 series on private buses. I note that some early 2000 numbers are already on private b...

Cazza Your reference to the M44 replacing the current x438 does not make sense. I googled bus M44 and found it operates in South Australia.

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7
Cazza What is the M44 you mentioned. I have travelled on the 320 from Waterloo to St Leonards a few times outside peak time and the journey is a little under 30 minutes. If i followed your example I could catch the 301 or 302 to Redfern Station then a train to St Leonards. I do not think I would sav...

Re: Jan 2021 bus changes - STA region 7
I hope the Route 320 from Gore Hill to Mascot bus is not split in the future. I have travelled on this route from St Leonards to Waterloo and even outside peak hours the articulated buses on this route have close to full passenger seating. It would gain even extra support if extended on the north si...

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020
I also had a similar experience recently. I was waiting at Rockdale Plaza for a bus heading in the direction of Miranda. I boarded a bus showing this destination, However it returned right at the highway heading towards Rockdale station. Buses to Miranda, Dolls Point and Rockdale use the same stop a...

Re: Bonneted Buses
Thanks for the above. I also have a copy of the Ken Magor collection which has many bonneted buses included. One operator who had a lot of these buses was Chapman's of Hamilton. Growing up in the St George district, i remember Blyth's, Red Top Transport, A.J.Moore and Jamieson's had these buses runn...

Bonneted Buses
i am interested in seeing photos of bonneted buses that were around in Sydney during the 50's. I am aware of the Bedford at the Bus Museum that belonged to Jamieson's of South Hurstville. There would be many other similiar buses with other operators of that era.

Re: Future of the board
My interest in the ATDB and other facebook groups is my interest in buses and finding details of buses operating in Sydney since the 1950's. I have always wondered why some fleet lists have not been added as was being done a few years back. One list I would like to see included is of Westbus when ow...

Re: Desto Time 14 - Leslies Blacktown
A former operator of this route in the 50's was Killdare Bus Service Proprietor Ryder and Sons. I am interested in buses used by this operator. I do have a record of one bus a bonneted Chev. with m/o 011. Does anyone know of any other buses belonging to this operator.

I was travelling north across the Tom Uglys Bridge when I passed a bus belonging to Plan B Transport with registration m/o 7053. Unfortunately I was not able to get further details of the make of this bus. I notice it is not yet included in their fleetlists. This plate was previously with South Tran...

Sydney Coaches and Sydney Coachlines
Both of the above companies are based at Kingsgrove. I saw a Mercedes Benz with rego. m/o 5400 yesterday. The bus was white with green stripes being the colour used by Sydney Coachlines. I have noticed fleet lists have recorded this bus as belonging to Sydney Coaches who up to this time do not appea...

Berry Bus Service has a Fuso Rosa on plates m/o 025. Trans Dev NSW recently sold a Volvo B10 on plates m/o 027 which was previously with Pioneer Coaches, Bexley to Berry Bus Service. I do not know if the plates were transferred onto the bus at Berry Bus Service. If this did occur then Berry Bus Serv...

Re: Private Observations 2019
Got a ride one one of Tempe’s new Volvo B8RLE Volgren Optimus. It’s very close to STA’s B8 Volgren Optimus but still noticeably different - the seating layout is the same, except for the welcome return of private seat behind driver, and the handrails are metallic uncoloured. The windows are the rec...
