Re: From another thread off-topic

Everyone who complained enough for the proposed “New Network” to be canned obviously thinks what we have now is perfect. The forward thinking “headway management”, many, more frequent corridors, and consistent lower frequent routes should have worked well. But Beryl and Edward were going to have to ...

Re: Scania/Custom Deliveries

Hardly no longer suitable when it’s basically the same as every other L94/Volgren. It wasn’t listed in the contracts (neither was 3269, 3310, or 3311), and therefore was transferred

Re: Predictions for the 2020s

McDoanlds at least have already tried their own delivery. It was deemed uneconomical and thus they went with the “delivery partners option” Note that in “regional” locations the menulog platform uses delivery drivers hired directly by McDonald’s, rather than a Menulog “partner” Have we also not alre...

Re: Scania/Custom Deliveries

I think gunzels are a bit out of touch with reality, the public sees their bus showing 106 or 228F or whatever and they catch it assuming it’s going to their destination. They don’t worry whether it’s redfront or yellow front, whether it’s Custom or BusTech, Scania, Volvo, MAN or Merc. It’s a bus t...

And it’s a much, much better look to the public if the fleet is new. Considering the PMC 160 body on NL202s looks like an 80s design, the public perception of those buses must be poor

SA about to go back into several months of 'lockdown' due to a tiny number of virus cases that are almost zero compared to March and August. Much appreciated, China! So if you like the products, don’t complain about the service. You know what you’re signing up for. Equally, if you don’t like the service, feel free to visit another supermarket and not enjoy the Aldi products. Aldi does open more than one checkout, based on a range of factors. I’ve even seen as ma...

Re: Flinders Line news

As the Tonsley and Seaford lines have both been there longer than FMC/Flinders Uni/Marion Westfield/State Aquatic Centre, it’s mind boggling stupid that they were not built around the railway in the first place! Just look at, umm, any other city in the world. It works great, but too much for Adelaid...

Re: O-Bahn extension ruled out

One of those services should be providing buses with no stairs inside them or at the doors. That would get things working better for a start. I agree that the passengers are to some extent the victims of a poor choice of bus design. I saw an Australian bus interior CCTV video not long ago where a p...

Rather sad to think of 'old people' living in huge maintenance free units. :-( Have a read on Wikipedia (unless you've seen the movie) of the plot in 'Soylent Green' which starred Charlton Heston. It's set in 2022. Try reading 1984 by George Orwell - not just old people living in maintenance free h...

Rumour has it that Scania L94UBs 3269 and 3270 have been retired from metro service as of today.

3270 is booked for the BPASA charter this Sunday, after that, who knows what will happen.

Re: Trivia Quiz

Well done! That’s correct

For interest’s sake; Tweedvale was what nearby Lobethal was called. Birdwood (about 30km away) was formerly Blumberg (never changed back), and Verdun was Grünthal. Klemzig in the inner suburbs was called Gaza

Hay Valley is a nearby area, and Bridgewater East was made up!

Thanks! You learn something new every day. I’m far more versed in local history knowledge than general knowledge, so apologies in advance if this question is too ‘local’ to my area. What did the township of Hahndorf get renamed to during WWI? A. Tweedvale B. Bridgewater East C. Ambleside D. Hay Valley
