Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

What was the maximum frequency intended after the upgrade compared to the line capacity now? Currently 4 min in peak (15 per hour) and 10 min off peak (6 per hour). Many of the initial boards outside stations under construction touted 3 minutes. I would very much like to see off peak increased to 7...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

They have stated that 8700 out of 11000 hours of required testing is done, with the next stage being trial running. A typical weekday schedule is about 170 (one way) trips, and with the journey from Tallawong to Sydenham being about an hour, a complete day simulation would therefor represent about 3...

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations

When opal cards were first issued in Dec 2012 the opal system was only operating as a very small trial on a couple of bus routes. It wasn’t till 2014 that it was at all Sydney suburban train stations. I wonder how many of these original opal cards were issued to genuine travellers on those initial r...

I wonder how it will go with the Noah like rain predicted over the next couple of days?

HARBOUR BRIDGE CLOSURE There's still a lot of timber sleepers. Did they only 'concrete" the down track? There is a reddit discussion on the sleeper replacement program plus a few nice photos. The 10 day shut down did not replace the entire span or both lines, still more work to go in similar p...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Trains west twitter reported there are 52 carriages stuck at Lithgow and Mt Victoria west of the Leura landlslip. Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

The fact that already there is a preferred option hints that a decision has effectively already been made regardless of the nature of passenger feedback. The mere act of identifying a preferred outcome in the options paper also has the potential to bias the responses of the public in any case.

What I didn’t really notice, is that it jumps back to 10 min frequency quite early at 8.30 Tallawong...
