Re: NSW Railway Observations 2021
HARBOUR BRIDGE CLOSURE There's still a lot of timber sleepers. Did they only 'concrete" the down track? There is a reddit discussion on the sleeper replacement program plus a few nice photos. The 10 day shut down did not replace the entire span or both lines, still more work to go in similar posses...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020
Trains west twitter reported there are 52 carriages stuck at Lithgow and Mt Victoria west of the Leura landlslip. Currently most BMT trains have to run as 4 cars only due to the lack of rolling stock. Is there any possibility a loco could haul those via the freight lines to Parkes, Cootamundra, Goul...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020
Landslip at Pymble this afternoon. https://mobile.twitter.com/TrainsInfo/status/1226398327639429120 T1 was closed all weekend anyway. Doesn’t look that serious, but would be a challenge to be cleaned up for AM peak tomorrow. While they could also run a north shore trains starting from Gordon, the tr...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020
The fact that already there is a preferred option hints that a decision has effectively already been made regardless of the nature of passenger feedback. The mere act of identifying a preferred outcome in the options paper also has the potential to bias the responses of the public in any case.

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
Only noticed today, but it may have occurred earlier, 4 min frequency service peak now appears to be starting 30 min earlier from Tallawong from just before 6.00 am, rather than just before 6.30 am. What I didn’t really notice, is that it jumps back to 10 min frequency quite early at 8.30 Tallawong...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Exactly the issue that was mentio...

7 am. No extra passengers on Chatswood platform 1 transferring from metro. Lots of hi vis. This is just before the frequency of metro arrivals from Tallawong is meant to change from 10 to 5 in morning peak ramp up. Suspect the previous Nth Shore up service must have picked up the previous metro arri...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
Tripview is showing slightly longer journey times for today (up 40/down 38), whereas from standard from tomorrow is 37 each way. Assuming 5 min turnaround at each end, the round trip today is 88 min. Hence they would need 13 trains @ 7 min frequency today. Increasing to 5 min frequency would require...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019
Re carriage capacity indicators. Are they just a bit of a gimmick? Firstly, I am fortunate so that the combination of my travel times and to/from stations such every carriage has seats. Notwithstanding that, I chose my carriage based on the location of the exit stairs of my destination. On the 0.01%...
