Re: Rego bus plates

m/o 4774 was a Syd Wood bodied AEC Half Cab with Vardys Road Bus Service and came from Pioneer Coaches of Bexley where it had been m/o 266. After sale from Vardeys Road it went to a wreckers yard at Padstow. Hi Red and Cream Slightly off-topic. But I had never seen reference to "Vardys Road Bu...

Re: Centenary of 538 (ex 234)?

Yes, Tony, you are right about the Lilli Pilli route, it has been extended to Miranda.

And Hurstville-Connells Point has been permanently rerouted via Kyle Bay.

This all shows that, on the whole, it is only routes which terminate at a waterway that have remained largely unaltered.

Re: Centenary of 538 (ex 234)?

Interesting topic for me. I think you could include these other routes as having passed their centenaries, as they are listed in the Government Gazette in 1921:
  • Caringbah - Lilli Pilli
    Hurstville - Connells Point
    Miranda - Yowie Bay/Point

Does anyone now remember what route number (s) were used for the Coogee Pumpkins bus?

I have heard both 330 and 999.

Thanks Robert

I know this is an old thread but I found this map showing Epping Recreation Ground hence the name for Epping Junction on the old tram network: https://www.bondivillage.com/pics2017/glebe-map-1925.jpg That map is map 4 in my facsimile copy of the Premier Street Directory of Sydney and Suburbs, which...

Re: Bus services operating from Chatswood and Lindfield Stations in the 50's and 60's. Part 3.

I think that room from the station with the point levers inside was rescued and placed on display near the bus ranks in Orchard Rd. maybe they are still there?????????? Yes, building and levers are still there. A refreshing example of transport history being well preserved. There are also lots of p...

I have a photo of Wagg's UF AEC m/o 4571 on the Bradfield run, did that replace the older large buses in the end.
Did m/o.4571 later become m/o.5114 under Barnes or Deane? If so, the answer is Yes.

Thanks for posting the pic of m/o.948, the body of which has close similarities to 263, although FE rather than FC. One of those two buses did a diversion to Lindfield Public School morning and afternoon, for most of the period I attended there 1949-55.

Re: Bus services operating from Chatswood and Lindfield Stations in the 50's and 60's. Part 3.

I add to my thanks for all these photos which ran near my school boy home in Roseville. Besides Pymble-Lindfield, for a period in the second half of the 1960s, a second (peak hour) route under the route 133 banner ran from Gordon to Eucalyptus St, East Gordon. I recall seeing m/o.481 being used on t...

Another thank you for the photo spread. Some more buses which I rode back in the days. I think Glass's first name was Roy (?). And Smith's was Ron. I believe that Smith also went to Barnes when route 124 and m/o.4692 were sold. From memory, Barnes operated out of the former Hales depot in Burns Bay ...

Re: Bus services operating from Chatswood and Lindfield Stations in the 50's and 60's PART 1.

Thanks for posting R&C. I particularly enjoyed seeing the image of m/o.263, as I certainly rode on it. Although it was mainly used on the Lindfield-Bradfield Park (now West Lindfield) part of route 221, it occasionally did some trips on the Lindfield-Roseville part, which was a lot quieter, and ...

Hi all, More tangential information here.. I apologise. Several factors arose in the 1940's that saw bus ...

According to the fleet lists for Deane, the Bedford m/o 4533 was previously with Col Sinclair in 1962 and prior to that with Clinton Motors for the transport of coal miners. I am learning new info about Clintons as a bus operator here. I have googled Clintons Motors and have found this link: https:...
