Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

Does 144N start from North Sydney station? Would at least be helpful if it did.

PDF timetables are up, at least some of them.

Oh and there some other changes too outside Inner West, 450 is getting a service every 15 mins now.

Re: 25/10/2020 Bus service changes - Inner West

Well, it doesn't need to do a dog-leg around a congested Oxford Rd and Museum station so no surprise.

Another thing I've noticed, 445 is going up from 20 to 15 mins on Saturdays. Shame they didn't decide to lift Sunday frequencies from 30 mins to 15 mins instead or even 20.

M10 and M50 were always going to be at the top of the at-risk list so I'm not surprised and neither should the two MPs from the area.

437 is exciting. I wish they would withdraw the 480 though and make the 483 runs every 20 minutes Mon-Sat and divert the 415/450 in its place for Homebush Rd.

Yes, sorry. I don't know why I typed in light rail when I meant metro. Speaking of the metro to SE though, this has come out recently. https://t.co/TRzRpPkJVq?amp=1

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

With travel times like the light rail, the government will have to be extra brave to replace buses beyond the suggestions in the other post. Maybe when the light rail is extended they might consider a new network but not now. That said, there are still opportunities to rationalise routes that should...

Re: More Trains, More Services | Signalling Upgrades

Stumbled on to this someone's Linkedin page when I was doing some *ahem* research. His page mentions 2 interesting projects that I haven't heard about. Quick Google search reveals something on Sydney Terminal Area Reconfiguration and it's part of MTMS but there's nothing on Hurstville to Mortdale Qu...

Re: Use of Back Door on Buses

Those aren't reasons to not do all-door boarding. Not many of the buses in Melbourne have double-leaf doors and that's not stopping them from doing all-door boarding in the coming months*. Elderly can continue to use the front door. *Though I say again it's regularly done today anyway thanks to pass...

Transit Systems and yes in Sydney too. And Region 6 so RTBU. Also, this was at a school, so it was the first stop where no one could alight anyway yet the centre door was open and students used it.

Re: Use of Back Door on Buses

All door boarding for schools? No less unsafe than for regular services, even when there's a tree and uneven surface at the stop. Just do it already. Picture was taken before the pandemic. Image

This isn't exactly a new idea from the council, this line was one of the lines in the 2056 plan slated for 2036. Still good to see someone push for it.

Also, link to council report.

The poor control of costs is the least of light rail's problems now that it's opened and finished.

Considering French tramways has been a big theme of this thread, it's interesting to point out that the French is at it again trying to re-invent the tram this time in the UK.

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 20

After the light rail travel time disaster, I don't think Transdev should get the contract for the new regions. If there are any co-ordination problems, the government should take up a stronger position in that role rather than hand it over like KD.

How dare you! Yeah, they have feelings but they're not beyond criticism, including criticism that they should be stripped of their contract unless they improve their performance. These aren't idiotic comments, if no one talks about bad Transdev, then the chances of improvement are even less than wh...

Re: Use of Back Door on Buses

All this talk of rear-door boarding interstate. It seems like Transdev Melbourne is now officially doing rear-door only boarding, of course, many drivers have been doing it on own anyway in Melbourne. And remember that Transdev Melbourne has notorious issues yet decided that it was safe to this. I w...
