Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2019
Does anyone know the operator of the Denning Landseer double-decker registered 1GTB356 (or 536?) which is currently running around Perth as the WA Labor campaign bus for the Federal Election? My guess is Horizons West, the last 'reported' operator of former Deluxe 196 [http://perthbus.info/report.p...

Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions - 2018
Swan Valley Explorer, operated by Adams Coachlines.
Uses four (4) ex Transperth (PTA) O405NH low floor units. I have seen B93 [1GQP110] which is ex TP1519. On perthbus, B89 [1GQI496] shows up as ex TP1510. Any idea what the other two are ?

Great shot Inspector. Yes I spent a few days at Dumfernline when the bus was purchased getting to know the characters that keep that place running. They are totally devoted to the buses. And a bunch of nice blokes. They have some wonderful buses there. I also have another Atlantean coming over from...

Re: [ABC] Volgren Articulated Buses For Japan
While congratulations may be in order, just 4 buses doesn't seem many for what appears to be a fairly substantial transport system. The 4 Scania / Volgren artics are not the only buses used on the Niigata BRT - 'standard' Hino and Isuzu (J-Bus) units in the fleet are also deployed, bearing BRT 'boa...

Follow up query. Just wondering what buses are currently (Oct 2015) used on the ADL Airport runs? I'm booked to visit ADL next January and would appreciate some inkling of what I will potentially travel on to / from the CBD.

Re: A bus route in Japan
I would love to see some of the Transperth SWA's have a go at these routes  Me too ! Having visited most parts of Japan and several countries in Europe, plus having driven (cars) in most parts of Britain, there is no doubt in my mind that the majority of Australian ''drivers'' would regula...

Re: United Bus co Daimler CVG6 DD bus and a Bedford SB
Thanks for the tip and link to the Daimler double deck picture. It was United Buses of Claremont, - number 6. Pre-War COG5 model fully imported from the UK with Park Royal body. Perth's only double deck bus for many decades. The chassis still exists with the Bus Preservation Society of WA. (BPSWA)....

drpeps, I was aware that Tom the Cheap was the first discount grocer / supermarket in Perth, and that Tom Wardle later became Lord Mayor of the City of Perth. Rumour has it that Council House on St Georges Tce was built during his tenure, and that the building consequently features a series of large...

Re: WAGR AEC Regal IV WAG8975 in 1969
This unique AEC Regal IV 'deck-n-a-half' coach apparently survives in the hands of a preservationist, although I have no idea of its current condition or location. Roderick, your description of the body style being 'airporter' is intriguing. To other enthusiasts, this might be an 'observation' or 'd...

The 1st two pictures are of the same Fleetline, original West Riding fleet number 676 . Regarding your comment highlighted in bold text. Perth (WA). Trolleybus 888. (Roderick Smith) Piecing the clues together: There were only two routes at this stage, running around a park in the central city as the inner terminus. The wires to the stabling yard weren't revenue. I started at Floreat; I alighted where the two routes converged, and ha...

Thanks Ric - just wanted to clarify the 'timing and terminology' involved. Few ATDB readers possess your first-hand knowledge, or even a smattering of understanding of 'what went before', so it is vital to be clear about certain key details for the sake of historical accuracy and comprehension. Pret...

Re: More WAGR 1969, Northam
Your first photo shows interesting variations in the appearance of WAGR 'bus bums' in 1969. A rare treat given that relatively few bus / transport photographers bothered to record the proverbial 'back end of a bus' in bygone years. To me, the presence of G68 at Northam is particularly intriguing, fo...

I suspect that very / lamentably few bus enthusiasts in Australia, or elsewhere, fully grasp just how important the Guy Victory Air-ride ( NOT designated WUM, as falsely indicated / suggested by perthbus.info ) was to the development of 'luxury coach' type vehicles, in this vast country, and some ot...

Re: WAGR Foden Dp52 in 1969
Thanks for this interesting photo, Roderick. Not that I'm an expert on the topic, but my understanding is that the number 6485U appearing on what was a 'white on red ground' plate to the nearside of the radiator grille had little or nothing to do with identifying this ( or any other ) vehicle in the...
