Re: Tram commuters along Glenelg line facing nine-month closure during overpass construction

My apologies, I was linking the current arrangements at many of the city intersections with what occurred at South Road. This is actually a good thing from the tram's perspective as it is priority sequencing. The short phases are additional phases in the traffic light sequence nominally just for tra...

Re: Tram commuters along Glenelg line facing nine-month closure during overpass construction

A number of Adelaide intersections have traffic lights which in some cases will allow only 3 or 4 cars across on green, before the red signal reappears and everytime the lights change there has to be a short period where all directions are red - so the more changes there are, the more traffic is he...

Hopefully that includes the closing of the level crossings at Belford Avenue and Pym Street and the direction of traffic to the bridges at Torrens Road and Regency Road.

I am amazed that it was able to be moved! I did look at the street view in the side street which showed an earlier image from March 2008 before the bus was there, but didn't think to look around the corner.

Yes, primarily stops in the CBD that are Compulsory Stops that are ignored by Bus Operators unless hailed or the bell rung. Stop W1 in Currie Street used to be one of the worst for it.

… or, people could just hail the bus and press the next stop request button. Why over complicate things?
...or the contractors could train their Bus Operators what Compulsory Stop actually means.

What I think is an Iveco has been in the rear yard of Big Chief for a few weeks - viewable from the road from Waterloo Corner Road to the Northern Expressway and St Kilda. Seems strange to have a reasonably modern bus out of service just sitting there.

70 mins... and to think that the oBahn was designed with buses that had towbar attachments to push or pull disabled vehicles, and had Dumbo also available to retrieve. Very sad that what was once a well thought out operation has been let lapse to such a state.

Re: Old MTT Tramway Poles - Glen Osmond Road

Giving SAPN some due credit for this, they are very proactive in ensuring that any of the ex tramway poles that they remove are carefully taken down and transported out to the Tramway Museum at St Kilda for us to assess them for re-use. Their efforts and support are very much appreciated by us.

Fully agree, it is yesterday's news to expect the bus operator, who is the lowest paid in the chain, to enforce fare paying compliance. If the dregs within SAPTA who sold out their fellow workers and gave themselves cushy jobs still within government in their role as transition team, well they can g...

Re: (May/June 2021) Transport observations

I fail too see why a number of buses are having the letter "R" in front of fleet number? These buses don't just do rail subs, they do all runs. What is t1he purpose? The R stands for R eady for scrapping or R eady for preservation once they've finished using them to be pretend trains.
