Re: Buslink Sunshine Coast to become CDC South East Queensland effective 1 October 2020

Buslink was hardly a Qld business. The previous owners were Hannans from Darwin with some operations previously part owned by the Lucas family from Victoria. CDC took over the Hannans interests and the Lucas family withdrew from the partnership to focus on their original operations in Vic and SA.

The 4pm trip out of Chatswood would most likely be for students who have come by train or bus from several of the private schools in the North Sydney area.

Surely an equally significant part of the announcement, not reflected in the thread name, is the first noted use of Custom Denning as the new brand name for the combined operations.

Re: Covid-19

The bus industry is a real case of split personality on Covid. The route service and school contract sector has been relatively unaffected with most employment and service delivery maintained. Drivers are obviously at some risk but mask use and reduced nos of pax seem to have managed or mitigated th...

Unfortunately the e-citaro remains irrelevant to Australia at this time as its overwidth and Europe is unlikely to produce a narrow version just for us.

I got as far as the proposed "rapid" bus route from Railway Square to Sutherland Hospital via Princes Highway before ROFLing.
Tried driving that route lately? The word rapid does not immediately come to mind.

Re: Other rail possibilties

There is a linkage between amplification and skyrail in Melbourne, mainly with the Caulfield-Dandenong section. This is very much at capacity having to cope with suburban services, V/Line pass every hour or more and several daily freight trains mainly interpeak. Even prior to Skyrail there were call...

Re: HISTORY of ADELAIDE - BUS, TRAIN & TRAM ROUTES

The purpose of the clock was to record on time running. If the bus was a little early the driver would often stand by the clock for a minute or so before clocking in. They were referred to as Bundy Clocks where I grew up in Melbourne and were used extensively on the tram system.

I'd suggest the acid test for any low floor chassis is to be driven around West Wyalong for a few hours - that town has the most evil spoon drains in existence. If it works there it will work anywhere.

Personally I would take all ridership figures everywhere since February with a grain of salt. This is not a normal year.
Wellington and Melbourne had 90% plus patronage reductions at different times in the last 6 months.

That just transfers the burden of payment from the local residents who might actually use the service to all WA taxpayers, most of who won't. Not sure how that's a good thing.
