Re: Victorian Bus Observations 2024
Rode Kinetic 8901 yesterday for the first time in many years (was running on route 380), it's probably old news but it's had a major refurbishment. No more SmartBus livery, no more tired old Invicta seat covers, and a new-style floor with NO STANDING sign near the driver like the current Optimus/Gem...

Re: What gives you the S&#T's!?
Profit is the only reason. The letter delivery service is provided by government-owned entity (not for profit, despite stamps being a ripoff), whereas the corporate entity is for-profit as the parcel division of Australia Post was privatised 30 years ago to allow competition in the parcel sector, pr...

Australia Post to halve two thirds of nothing by dropping yet another letter delivery day while shifting more focus to its for-profit parcel division while the Australian government looks the other way claiming that lovely 10% GST on the letters that were moved by the customer across to the next pri...

372M still has Surrey Hills and Mont Albert on the interior map, the motors/gears sounded nice though. The next Comeng I rode (432M) had the updated map but the PID announcement had a blank for Southland ("Now arriving at..."), although the LED display showed the station name. This one sou...

Saw a red EA Falcon S pack in Vermont South on 12/3. A rare survivor, however the body looked like it sat in the sun for 35 years and it also had modern blue Vic ▼ plates.

A government-issued Proof of Age Card (aka photo card) issued by an Australian state or territory is not accepted as ID online in Australia as it is not a driver's license. Why the F do I need a car in order to set up an online bank account? Or, specifically, why the F I need to walk into a VicRoads...

Why does Channel 9 and its spinoffs (Gem etc.) keep advertising religious nutjobs as soon as the sun goes down? Not even 7 stoops that low, instead they spam infomercials about ear wax, and 7 is the worst FTA in Australia (thankfully Sky isn't free).

Re: Committee for Melbourne calls for buses every 10 min
Blackburn Rd is also a shocker after dark. It takes almost an hour to get from Burwood One (e.g. 24hr Kmart/Coles) to Ringwood after 8PM as the buses aren't aligned, and then at Blackburn you have to gamble with the trains on one of the worst-served suburban lines in Melbourne (the 901 isn't any bet...

Re: Xtrapolis Vs Comeng
Just like most of Victoria's train tracks, the Werribee line has been asre since forever. Even a Comeng or Siemens with brand new bogies (including airbags, shocks and bushings) bounces all over the place on bad track. Like with every other train, there are good X'Traps and there are bad X'Traps. Th...

Re: What gives you the S&#T's!?
The logical thing would be to have it at the Supermarket like they do in Scandinavia (and perhaps much of Europe?). Nope, industrial areas and transport deserts are apparently the only options. Even the three or so TOMRA/Coles reverse vending machines hide outside in the car park instead of being i...

Australian Supermarkets are becoming worse & worse, Coles in particular So I had a return and earn docket which is one that can be redeemed at any Coles, I decided I'd put a proportion towards it for some work supplies while I await to get restocked, head on up to the nearby coles, get what I n...

Re: Committee for Melbourne calls for buses every 10 min
Seeing as there's not even money for the Commonwealth Games, and their Airport train has been delayed again, is that an optimistic expectation to play on the Government, or is there enough dead wood in the network to get that improvement without huge additional cost? Most of the dead wood regarding...

It's been nearly a month since it officially started, yet you can count the reverse vending machines and depots in Melbourne's eastern suburbs on one hand, with the vast majority being located in the west, the inner south-east or industrial area...

A worthless junkie (of course a white male in their early 20s) held up bus 1153 on the 901 in Wantirna tonight by taking the emergency hammer off the hook, then attempted to steal a box of KFC from a passenger before walking off as soon as the doors opened. Wasn't on the next inbound 901 either (unl...

The price of Coca-Cola etc. went up about 10% just in time for the Victorian container deposit scheme. Would be all well and good if the whole state had actually implemented the container deposit scheme on the 1st (cough, Visy, cough) as opposed to any time between now and August 2024. Time to hoard...

742 to Chadstone just performed two unintended laps of Ringwood. Bus 1259 went too far up Bond St past the Market St detour (road closed at the usual New St intersection due to installing a literal sewer underneath a traffic sewer), ended up turning right and heading through suburbia, turning ...

When someone gets on the bus/tram/train talking endlessly on their phone for the next 40 minutes of the trip, dialed up to 11 in Hindi at the speed of the auctioneer in Storage Wars, only stopping every so often for a quarter of a second to breathe. Yes, she finally got off, and yes, she continued y...
