Re: Rowville Flexiride on TV

Hahahahaha!!!!!!! The bus comes direct to their home when they want it (Except after dark or on Saturdays or Sundays or public holidays, unlike almost every single Melbourne suburban route bus with very few exceptions) This could change public transport forever (See above) I can see it working...

Re: Rare and interesting car sightings

I think Holden just didn't have the design options (or the money) back then so were stuck with off the shelf components; the HQ Statesman being nothing more than a luxury-spec wagon but with a boot instead of a tailgate; the wagon/ute/van tail lights were probably the only new thing they had back th...

A lot of Gumtree sellers are also eBay sellers or former eBay sellers who didn't want to join the Managed Payments (Adyen) platform because they wanted to keep their money in PayPal instead of the bank (prying eyes and all). Loud passengers? Just put a heavy metal CD in (do buses have CD players? Do...

Re: Rare and interesting car sightings

Saw an old Statesman in Ringwood last night but it was too dark to see what model it was aside from the tail lights being the HJ/HX/HZ type. The (presumably stock) V8 was running a bit rich and took at least 10 seconds for the fuel smell to dissipate. Coincidentally, I also saw a silver VS Statesman...

Re: Ventura Group Discussion Thread 2021

744 (a tiny 33-seater usually seen on Telebus routes) was running on route 679 just after 8PM on the 19th, spotted it outside Ringwood station in Station St. The bus after it was a par-for-the-course Scania/CR228L, while sister route 670 was running artics, so I can only assume Ventura (or at least ...

Re: CM Valiants still doing the rounds.

Saw a blue Valiant station wagon with a Chrysler by Chrysler front in Bedford Rd Ringwood last night. Had some nasty rust on the tailgate though. No idea what model it was due to the non-standard front and being a "late model" wagon (VH through CM wagons all have the same tail lights).

The issue with Pringles wasn't a flavour change, but the Australian importer (Kellogg's IIRC) changing manufacturers to suit their bottom line (Malaysia is apparently an order of magnitude cheaper than USA). If you want Pringles with the proper flavour and size you have to find a shop that imports t...

Re: What gives you the S&#T's!?

Sounds like the usual double standards coming from long-outdated perceptions such as: Women can't possibly be violent against men, let alone starting a fight unprovoked. "Black" people can't possibly be racist because only "white" people are racist. Muslims are all suicide bombers and can't possibly...

I can't stand social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, I wouldn't be seen dead on them. I don't even have a Reddit account, and that seemed to be the more sane platform of the three (others like Discord or Skype don't appeal to me either). And then at the opposite end of the scale there's the j...

Wikipedia states that the 4L Jeep sixes were an AMC design that pre-dated the Chrysler takeover (at 242ci it's also slightly smaller than the 245 Hemi).

100% chance it was "Telstra" "Technical Support" pushing for a $1000 bill credited to a bank account located in India. Scamming is apparently a legitimate business endorsed by the Indian Government, so there's no chance whatsoever of them stopping any time soon.

As long as their paying for news doesn't mean that every single search is going to be bombarded by Murdoch (etc.) trash completely irrelevant to what you're searching for. Google's results already seem weighted towards who pays them the most rather than relevance.

Re: VIC Rail and Tram Observations 2021

Caught B2 2085 on the 75 two nights ago which looked ready to car in at Sims Metal Depot. In the #1 end where I rode, it had rust bubbles(?) on the inside wall (I thought they were aluminium or stainless steel thus couldn't rust...), a patched up, riveted piece of sheet metal on the other side wall ...

Anyway to skip a bit of the part in between where nothing happens, 4WD guy goes to reverse out and reverses into the back of an incoming Holden Captiva that was just entering the carpark. Finally, the 742 will be moved to a more appropriate location as opposed to being dumped in a busy side street on the wrong side of Eastland Shopping Centre. The Eastland terminus only made sense between 1988 and the 2010s until Plaza Centre Way was converted into a carpark when Eastland was rebuilt...

Re: What doesn't give you the S&#T's, or make you Happy?

Last week I was on the 75 again riding in a B2 tram which overtook a ute on Burwood Highway. Melbourne seriously needs more of this on their entire tram network in places where the tram isn't bumper to bumper with cars, the tracks are dead straight and the stops are appropriately spaced apart instea...

Not much better south of the border where it's pushing 40°C today (weather says: La Niña be damned, let's point a giant fan-forced heater towards Victoria, turn it up to 11 and watch 'em burn anyway!) Re: VIC Rail and Tram Observations 2021

A new tram crossing was installed on Bridge Rd/Church St Richmond last night as part of the Bridge Rd tram track works. Worth mentioning as the more expensive things aren't always replaced at the same time (case in point, just about anything under Metro Trains Melbourne, such as the life-expired woo...
