Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

Interesting.. I'd always thought almost all 3xx routes were STA, and as Bondi-Pyrmont only, definitely that one.

Quite possibly one of the TS buses then.

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

Pretty sure I saw an electric bus on 389 service on Sunday, so possibly back with STA Randwick.

Didn't see rego unfortunately, just stickers on side.

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

From what I’m aware of, they’ve already made back their money on the investment and were earning (pre-covid) close to $50million from the charge/year. Who's 'they'?? The original equity owners of the Airport station who built it relatively cheap with narrow curved platforms with surcharges at all s...

Imported in 2010 according to their FB page, and asking price $90k + GST.

Assume they are keeping the two newer buses.

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations

Personally dont see standardisation as an issue.

So long as you have enough of every type (say 10 of each with 1 on maintenance, 1 on reserve) it works..
I mean London and NY railways work with trains of different widths on different lines.

It's not like Ansett and their Noah's Ark strategy

Re: Ferry Observations for 2021

Paper doesn't really say much about the Captain Cook - Lane Cove route. No fares stated, and it's recently had subsidies during Covid. Personally think it would be better brought fully under Opal (many of the wharves need an upgrade) and you've then got a 2nd operator to benchmark against, even if i...

Hilarious the first comment from a Nambucca Heads NSW person who doesn't realise Sydney has had electric buses and now has 30+, and will be nearing 100 by end of year.

Re: NSW rail network to go green by 2025, smaller ferries to go electric

And electric cars are luxury cars.. Current models available in Australia. Yes. Other than maybe the MG HS EV which is under $50k (albeit still $20k more expensive than the similar equipped petrol model) But you've got TrueGreen/ BYD talking about bringing in a $35k car. And remember on Total Cost ...

Not NSW..
But nice video of a Yutong E10 in Newcastle, UK.
Seems fully specced with bucket seats, wireless charging, and lots of electric looking colours and Volta branding.
Similar 2-steps to rear that we've seen here.

But he seems to be talking a different tune now, perhaps recognising he needs to present as an alternative.

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations

Short distance trips cost more per kilometre; always have, always will. While nobody likes price rises, they are a fact of life, and we should be grateful it is only a CPI increase, Don't think anyone disagrees with that as a concept (Or effectively a flag fall). But over the last 10+ years there h...

I wonder if there is a provision in the current operating contract where regular services may have retrofitted human drivers during certain required periods. All the metro trains have manual controls hidden away. But just because they've got a human driver doesn't mean they can go into a dangerous ...

Still some wind and hydro.

And that was the point of Snowy 2.0 - to use the excess solar in the day to pump water uphill so you can release it again at night.

But yes.. still a lot of coal at night.

And in NSW where many rail lines have had to be upgraded for power hungry aircon sets.

That said buses will predominantly be charged at night.. just keep them off over the summer aircon peaks and no issue.

Of course that is the period when our energy mix is typically less green.

I'd thought these vessels were very similar to the ones that Captain Cook already operate.
