Re: Private Bus Operations 2021
Yesterday I observed m/O 8226 Merc with Gemilang body, sporting TSA Leichhardt accred, barreling East down the M4... presumably on its delivery run

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
And there's definitely two in Moore Park on the western side of Anzac Pde near Dacey Ave also not installed. There are 3 poles left to install here (Anzac NB carriageway on the golf course side). Hopefully will be done this week, and that will be the last of the catenary poles on the whole project....

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
If the T lights default to red, I hope they detect the tram and turn to proceed well before the tram nears them so it doesn't have to slacken speed. This line is already a contender for the slowest new tramline in the world. The less there is to slow it down the better. For the distance and number ...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
My walk through some months back seems to me that tram drivers can have 3 separate signal heads to obey - The 'traffic' signals for the intersection - the T (and B) lights. Point indicator signals that show the direction the points are set for and separate again block occupancy signals. Not every s...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Apparently the shared bus/tramway at Anzac and Alison is now operational. Has this just happened or have I missed something? Depends what you mean by "operational". What has changed recently is that the traffic signals on the shared bus/tram corridor have been activated. The signals contr...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
That tram wouldn't happen to be going to Lilyfield? No, all deliveries are going to Randwick Stabling Yard. I assume this tram is currently in the process of being repaired? And remind me; when will the trams start test running to Central? Yes all maintenance/repairs are currently undertaken at Ran...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Noting only 22 of 60 trams delivered. Were these purposefully delayed given track construction or had the track been completed on time would we be missing trams? Assume next milestone will be night running down to Central. The last tram delivery was damaged by low hanging tree branches on Dacey Ave...

Re: Private Observations 2019
There's a Volvo B10BLE Orana from Burwood depot (3962 I think) that appears to have been through a recent refurb and repaint into TfNSW colours. Most notably, it has had its tail lights changed to the Volgren style small rectangular LED. Makes for quite a different look at the back. Didn't get a ph...

Re: STA Observations 2019
My eyes bulged when I observed 14.5m Scania 2108 on a morning citybound X77. Saw it on Alison Rd, turning right into the busway at Doncaster Ave.....nearly clipped the traffic signal post on the median island.
Is this normal?

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Noticed that the light rail signal just west of the South Dowling St crossing is turned on. It's a different type of signal to the L1 ones, currently displaying a vertical bar. Also noticed that the pedestrian crossing lights keep on changing modes. Today it was treating the north/south bound carri...

In theory yes, but it is plagued by issues with moving the telegraph poles and overhead wires.boronia wrote:The Kingsford branch should be the easiest to construct, but the work just keeps dragging on, with little progress.

What are you talking about? Tracks are tracks! It's hard to believe whopping great LRVs are going over that....to me anyway. No tonyp, I'm afraid I'm not comparing it to anything else, but perhaps I should have run with that *sigh*. The load carrying capacity of the track slab is all hidden ...

1. The new traffic lights have been commissioned at the Randwick depot/Alison Rd/Randwick racecourse intersection. Have they? They ain't on... There is a power supply issue to the site, they are meant to be on 24/7  ^ They're removing the Parkham St pedestrian bridge Correct. And I believe th...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Junction with the IWLR at corner of George and Hay Streets appears to being lifted again, third time lucky perhaps? This is effectively the last IWLR shut down available to utilise to complete the civil works at this intersection, so third time lucky or not, this is the last chance. In other news: ...

Re: Which STA/TSA route has the most variety of buses?
For R6, there are still some routes shared between depots, subsequently you'll get more of a mix of buses e.g. 445, 483, some of the green line routes maybe?

Re: STA Observations - July to December 2018
I saw quite a few of P's brand new Scania CB80's running on Randwick routes tonight, namely 374 and 377. It actually made me stop to think and consider that Randwick actually hasn't gotten new buses in just over four years now - the last new ones were the elusive few Iveco Metro Volgren Optimus, wh...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
They don't need a 300mm diameter or a 5m driven pile to hold up a street light. They don't need a 300m diameter or a 5m driven pile to hold up a tram overhead either, but we get what we get. Fully agree, the OCS pole design is overkill. But your comment that the height is required for increased wid...

It will be a localised delay but will not delay the entire project. There just needs to be a little extra time for the correct protocol to be followed in addressing and removing the remains.J_Busworth wrote:Yup. I'm expecting this to be used as an excuse for further project delays.

Old Metroad Numbers still on Signs
The Alphanumeric Route Numbering System replaced on the old shield and metroad route numbering system in NSW in 2013. This sign at Pyrmont however, has still survived. Extra cool considering it has not one, not two, but THREE metroad numbers on it! Photo taken 20th October 2018. Hopefully by posting...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Their height is because when you're cantilevering across three lanes of traffic, you need quite a lot of tie-back Incorrect, the majority of the poles holding the catenary will also have a luminaire with outreach arm mounted at the top. The height it to facilitate mounting the light high enough to ...
