Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
T2886 on a Route 100 outbound. Is there something going on here with S, G or W? Es and Ts seem to have been covering a lot recently - and I haven't heard anything. Theoretically, any bus and driver combo can do any route as long as they have enough gas/diesel and driving time. It’s all down to if t...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Anyone have any news on the Scania's being removed from service shortly? Have heard this was happening as soon as the end of the week? Also interesting to note these newer B8 deliveries have more cooling vents in the rear not dissimilar to the ones that were installed on some of the MAN gassies. Any...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Higher numbers than that now. 1666 has been delivered. If they are starting up rigids again I’d say all of them (until 1670) have been manufactured at least.

Re: Brisbane Metro
Do you know which terminus is the problem with HCV for the Blue Glider? Both ends present different challenges. Teneriffe is smaller than UQ Lakes but there will be a similar (maybe slightly less lol) frequency of bus movements into that area over a given time, add in the 199 and its a very busy sp...

Re: Brisbane Metro
There will likely be some sort of re-design of some parts of the network, resulting in a more trunk and feeder style system. The artics will be transferred onto HCV suitable routes which need extra capacity. You can bet that some routes that don't currently see HCV will gain them. If you consider th...

2068 I believe was involved in a head on collision on a 599 outside Sherwood depot at the bridge that crosses over the railway. Car crossed into the path of the bus.

Not a transfer as Eagle Farm is a Diesel only depot. Interesting times if they are being scrapped so early.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
It will be a combination of Artics and rigids. Artics may not get wrap and will only come on in peak periods. Or perhaps the plan is to run the service every 5mins 22hrs/day. Won't know until they are built.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
Given current fleet purchases, they will be B8 Artics. More maneuverable than tags and less damage/litigation from insurance claims from tail swing.

With the re-wrap of the gliders, wasn’t this done to alleviate complaints regarding not being able to see out through the windows?

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
Have heard that W 18.310s 1459-1485 are possibly ZF Ecomat??? I did go on 1480 the other day and it did sound a bit like a ZF, although what I call 'authentic', are at Toowong. I like 1227 the most, it has a REALLY loud ZF. The Engine Startups are amazing on it. Its when the turbocharged engine act...

Re: Brisbane Transport Observations 2018
The shields are likely to be rolled out across the fleet. S5100, S2003 and several of the new B8 artics have the barrier installed. As I understand it, all new buses should come with one of the two variants of barrier designs installed.

Not to mention the age of the B7 platform. It’s been in use since 1997.

Re: BT Volvo B7RLE Optimus
B7R engine has been discontinued in favour of the newer B8 engine. Yes there are exhaust emissions laws that must be adhered to, at the moment I think Australia currently keeps maybe 1 level behind the euro laws. At the moment the euro laws are on Euro6 emission level. Hence the B7R being discontinu...

Re: BT Volvo B7RLE Optimus
New B8’s to have double leaf rear doors (similar to 14.5m, finally!)
I’d say given the age of the Scania gassies, Virginia depot will continue to see new buses until they are all gone. Similar to how Sherwood and Eagle Farm had all of their Metroliners and B10l’s retired.

Re: Transport for Brisbane depots and routes
While that is a fairly comprehensive list ABS, that is not all of the routes that each depot does. I think that is just a snapshot of what routes were likely to be affected during the strike hours. For example S also does: 29, 106, 107, 108, 121, 134, 137, 160, 171, 176, 179, 181, 184, 185, 186, 195...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2017
Is it because they engineer them for future use? Say run a light rail system on them? Also, probably the most expensive part is the land resumptions that would be necessary I think.
