Matthew Partridge registered the company name Warrigal Charters on 5 January 2004. The company commenced trading in the same month with TV 3434 Nissan Civilian purchased from Shellcove Tours to operate a Department of Education Special Transport run under contract to Shellcove. Subsequent growth has come from the successful tender for other Special Transport runs, as well as general charter work.

Warrigal Charters purchased the work of What's My Scene Tours from R Brandwood on 1 May 2010 with TV 4960 Toyota Hi-Ace Commuter.

After the delicensing of LBJ Tours (Tory Pty Ltd) in June 2011, Warrigal Charters took over operation of The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) to Woonona and Shellcove private school runs from 18 July 2011. The Woonona run finished on 15 December 2011, while the Shellcove run continues to operate.

Since the company's start, Warrigal Charters has numbered their vehicles in order of purchase, with vehicles known as "Penguin's Pride 1" and so on.
