Amazes me how they've been very quick to put on 'Kinetic' stickers across the fleet, and it's only been day 1 of operations (to be fair though, that process already began before the takeover had actually started).

The reason why I'm surprised was because I remember it took days before we started seeing "Transdev" stickers across the fleet when Transdev took over the contract from Ventura in August 2013.

Also, wonder whether we will ever see Kinetic's PTV buses #228 and #230 on the Metropolitan routes (i.e. the ones that they got before they took over). I know it's probably unlikely since they also run that Deer Park shuttle, but you never know...

They will NOT be appearing on route service due to the fact they are part of the Skybus operation and do not have Myki equipment installed.

The government has announced that Sunshine West and Heatherton depots will host the first 36 electric buses as part of fleet procurement strategy as part of the contract, with both depots to get undercover shelter to accommodate electric buses and charging facilities.
There was also the announcement the first 49 of 127 hybrid buses will go towards the orbital bus routes.
By the wording of the press release it appears the first 49 will be either Volvo B5LH as they have the engine control tech that is already being employed CDCMelb in the western suburbs or it will be Scania's K320UB Hybrid which has a high parts commonality with the existing fleet.

If anyone here is on Reddit (I'm not), the bot in the r/melbourne daily discussion thread is badly in need of an update regarding buses. It still hasn't been updated to Kinetic, and doesn't link to any of the other major bus companies at all (e.g. Ventura, CDC, Dyson's).

First new bus for Kinetic will be bus 3001 a Volgren Optimus/BYD unit, based on the clip on 7news.

Did anyone see the SmartBus which was in a crash on the news a few days ago? It was an older silver bus on the 908 (possibly an Evo 2).

Figures I'd get it wrong. Saw a square-looking silver bus with a green desto on the news and instantly thought of an Evo 2, especially being on a DART route. Instead it's one of just eight(?) silver Scania/CR228Ls with a green desto (ex Invicta); the much more common Volvo B7RLEs having orange destos.

I tried to find this bus on the Kinetic fleet list but it's not there as well as many others. Does anyone know when this list will be completed?

Probably the fleet list updater hasn't found any spare time to update the list.
