Element 2. Some cosmetic changes, changes to chassis and frame and additional motor and battery options.
Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Don't know. Look for the kink in the rear side window to identify a 2.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Does anyone know what happened to the plan that Custom had to export some trial models to the UK? I was keen on keeping an eye on it but it seems to have fizzled out since it was announced last year/the year before.
Thanks,
Mitch

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Presumably, the vehicle needs to go through lots of regulatory approvals before it can be tested in the UK. Plus the bus has to be built to the specifications required by the UK and/or the customer in the UK.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Vaguely recall reading that it had been delayed until the Mark 2 version of the Element was available.
Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
There was a render for a UK electric double deck design ("Custom Denning Elephant"? ) on display at the recent Bus Expo.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Take this as a grain of salt as I can't confirm the accuracy of the information myself although someone on a British Bus discussion forum has posted that some Custom Denning Elements have been ordered for what I believe is West Midlands operator Rotala.
Front door only element (which I believe would be a first for the element but there is no reason Denning can't do the same here if requested by regional operators). Of course with a right hand side emergency exit door, looks like the rear route number box has been moved.
No mention as of yet of a UK Double Decker or the seating layout in the UK Elements but I'd imagine knowing the British Buses I see online they'll have those leather coach style seats.
^ Not a photo of the UK Custom Denning Interior, picture used as reference for possible seating that is likely to be used in the first batch of UK elements.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Thank you although I wasn't the first to come across this as I was actually tipped off on this from someone in England themselves (but not sure if they reside in the area where the Elements are going to be delivered?) the screenshot of the forum post isn't my image, was passed onto me by again the same person who alerted me to the update.
The figure seems to be very excited about any updates themselves.
Just simply sharing it here so we know there is still progress on the UK Element

Bedfont Lakes is near London Heathrow Airport with services operated by Rotala's Diamond Bus South East subsidiary. With only 24 seats, would indicate they have been specced with a fair bit of luggage space.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Given that the TSA CD Elements are having fleet numbers applied before they receive their rego plates, is it a possibility that CD are authorised to hold and issue rego plates on behalf of the RMS?

Here's some background on the Dunn family which would also explain the Element order for the family operations in UK.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Any idea why the Endevous is still just using the custom name?
Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
The Element 2 has had its front apron hit by the ugly stick, at least when finished in TfNSW livery.

By Custom Denning. Probably haven't bothered changing the badging since it started life in the Custom era, as it would involve front end redesign. Are they still building Denning Coaches in Brisbane? Possibly same reason.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
I've noticed recently that on some of R9 Custom buses, the "next stop" buzzer gives 3 short beeps, in lieu of a continuous beep.
I recall in the days of conductors, this indicated "emergency stop required".

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
On at least a couple of Darwin CB80s the three beeps meant the ramp request button had been depressed. The bell could therefore be rung twice!
Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Pretty much confirms what we already knew, one demonstrator due in the UK in January followed by three more for a Rotala subsidiary in February.
