Former Peninsula Bus Lines West St Umina Depot.

Post by Swift »

The former Peninsula Depot on West St corner Barrenjoey Road is now units.
Does anybody know when it closed and who operated on the site before it was Peninsula?
Where were their other depots? I remember they took over Brisbane Water Coaches.

Davis Bus Lines' depot was on Ourimbah Creek Road where Ausgrid are now with a maintenance shed that still stands at 64 Old Pacific Highway. Brisbane Water's Coaches was based at the present Kincumber site and IIRC had another in central Gosford to the north-east of the station.

Don't know exactly when Umina closed, but the Kincumber depot was expanded in the mid-to-late 90s, so probably around then.

Ritcher Bros were based at 154 West Street in this ad from 1973.

It makes me sad to see bland forgettable units in place of a once bustling bus garage. Losing more facilities like this for housing is a scourge. Umina/Ettalong has lost at least three petrol stations since the 1990s when we need more than ever. Doesn't make sense.
Appreciate the info Linto63. That pretty much covers it.
