Took a quick trip to Wellington to see a friend so here are some photos from this visit. Last time I was there the EE's were still king of the J'Ville line, but now the Hyundai Rotem Matangi units have taken over. We did try to spot freight trains as well as the Northern Explorer but none worked out for us, with "Dora" replaced by buses allegedly due to a derailment at Marton, which also meant no freights left Wellington up the trunk line. The next day we waited at Wallaceville for another freight which ended up on the trunk line. So sadly nothing worked out for us, but here are some photos of the tram museum at Kapiti and photos of Matangi trains.

Sometimes a photograph is better in black and white. In this case, the colour photo does not show off the scene as well as the black and white (think of it as more dramatic in black and white).Whyalla wrote:Why is the 5th photo in black&white?

That second photo is fantastic. The trains look good too.
