In this photo series, we will go on a journey through the year of 2011 with ACTION Buses.

Image
On the 10th January 2011, Bus 777 was the first Renault PR100.2 MkI to be withdrawn.
Photo taken at Lathlain Street Bus Station on the 12th July 2010.

On the 14th December 2011, Bus 843 was the last Renault PR100.2 MkI to be withdrawn (that is unless something bad happens this week).
Photo taken on College Street in Bruce on the 29th October 2010.

During 2011, Ex-ACTION Bus 703 (Renault PR180.2 MkII) ceased to be used by the ACT Fire Brigade for training exercises.

Buses 754 (Renault PR100.2 MkI t) & 755 (Renault PR100.2 MkI) replaced Bus 703 as the ACT Fire Brigade Training Buses in October 2011.

During the Winter of 2011, Bus 784 became one of the few Renault PR100.s MkI that were purchased by Adam's in Perth.
Photo taken of Bus 784 awaiting collection on the 17th July 2011.

While in September 2011, Bus 760 became one of the many that were sent to SIMS Scrap Metal in Sydney.
Photo taken on Northbourne Avenue in Lyneham on the 6th September 2011.

During a long EBA dispute between ACTION Management & Workshop Staff, problems were caused with refueling buses for weekend services. So during April 2011 Bus 788 (Renault PR100.2 MkI) was sent out on weekend services. Bus 788 was withdrawn only 3 months later.
Photo taken at City Bus Station on the 17th April 2011.

In its 24th year of service with ACTION, Bus 700 still plods along. There is a high chance that 2012 will mean the end of Bus 700 at ACTION.

Good pics!

Since ACT Renaults only have hopper windows and no air-con, what is it like inside them during an ACT summer?

Cheers!

Not too bad, you get used to it. Funnily enough BUS 843 along with two others was returned to service yesterday due to a bus shortage at Tuggeranong Bus Depot.

Once you get going with all the hooper windows & roof hatches open they are all right. But if the bus in running early & you have to sit at a bus stations for 5+ minutes it starts to get hot.

Bus 846 is yet to be removed from service. If the withdrawals go to plan, the old girl will go this year. Also by the looks of it, someone has already bought her.
