Dailytelegraph wrote:BUREAUCRATS working nine to five almost put an end to Dolly Parton's blockbuster tour of Australia in a row over her huge bus.
But federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese has proved an unlikely hero, personally stepping in to save the November tour.
Now a grateful Parton has vowed to give the Grayndler MP "a huge cuddle" when she arrives. The country music legend never tours without the massive 14m bus, staying in it along with members of her entourage wherever she performs.
Having applied to bring two buses into Australia, Parton was affronted when Customs officials ruled one was nearly 2m too long, 5cm too wide and overweight for Australian regulations.
State roads officials also had problems with the buses' doors opening into traffic because they were geared to the right side of the road, as in the US.

Where do you think the overweight concerns come from

Brilliant.
But back to serious stuff: The article also raises concerns because the buses being LHD have the door opening on the street side here in Australia. Why would this be a worry? The UK has many coaches from the continent which do the same. I remember boarding a Netherlands Registered Contiki coaches from the 'wrong' side in Russel Sq in London. I had no problem
Always having something to say, having a good laugh and having fun all at the same time.
Back in my day we had two hotels (in the Sydney CBD) that I remember opening the coach door into traffic, Wynyard Travelodge in York St and around the corner in Carrington, the Holiday Inn, I am sure tere were more but I can't remember then all and a lot of times we had (inbound) luggage to unload or load.
Just got to know what you are doing and use a thing we called "Commonsense" don't know if is still available though.

What, you don't have a link so we can download some?

That's the biggest problem it's not downloadable matter of fact it's almost as if it doesn't exist anymore

No doubt most have seen this before, but always worth of a refresher!
An Obituary:
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and Maybe it was my fault..
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled some in her lap, and was promptly awarded a cash settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by entities known as:
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Followed Dolly Parton's bus out of the city but it went into the Lane Cove Tunnel and I was too cheap to pay the toll.
It's a black left hand drive 3-axle Van Hool Super-Deck owned by Beat The Street (http://www.beatthestreet.net). Looked like this (not my image, found on google images):

I saw a coach in that livery in the city last week on George St, it was within the lane markings so its not too wide.
AEC Decker saw on A Current Affair tonight, that Dolly Parton's over width, over length and over weight, left hand drive tour bus/motorhome has been given special permission by the (federal ?) transport minister to be driven on Australian roads during her upcoming tour.
Apparently Dolly hates flying so this is how she gets around, but if this is true, how did she get from the USA to Australia ?, cruise ship, maybe ?.

The "big" star said she hates flying, not that she wouldn't flying. But I'm just wondering how the plane would get off the ground, with her, . . . . . . .
She could have came over by a ship, oh wait no, on second thought, . . . .
White lives matter too. Australia Day 26th Jan, the most important day in Australia as is 19 April, Cook's discovery of eastern Australia

Since when has Customs been the arbiter of what can or cannot be driven on the roads.?
