Two old Bendybuses: 2553/2554 yesterday

Post by cliff3 »

Good evening everyone,

Just a short note to tell about two old Bendybuses: 2553/2554 were sighted yesterday, as you see below:

No 2554 was sighted in the city at about 09.35, as it was leaving for Northern Beaches.

No 2553 was sighted in Spit Junction on it's way to the city at about 14.37.

Hope it interest you all.

Regards,

cliff3.

I was pleased to see 2553 and 2554 at Wynyard, 2554 taken passengers on a E88? (the last stand on York St just before the corner) and 2554 powering down York passing 2553 on a Central bound L90. This was about 1730 yesterday. Nice to hear the turbo noise of an O305G :!:

The Brookvale ones are kept inside while the Mona Vale ones can be seen in service (off peak). The weekend sees some out from Brookvale as well.

The old artics are still regulars on the L90 all day on weekends. Last Sunday sightings of them were plentiful.

Most weekends, every second bus on that L90 run is served by a Brooky bendi

Just (about 5 minutes ago) saw 2557 (with P accreditation and run plate) running special up Pitt St away from the Quay. It appeared to be carrying about 5 depot staff.

A new lease of life for the old girl :?: Wow - old artics along Anzac Pde - hmm, now I wonder who would be interested in that

Of course, the Mk3 artics are no strangers to Anzac Parade. They used to make very regular appearances on routes 1,2 and 3 in the days when the Royal Easter Show was held at Moore Park. Does anyone have photos of this?

I think MAN 3668 might be referring to further south on Anzac Pde.

As we all agree, the weekend sees a lot of Brookvale old artics out on the road. This is why I was stunned after looking at the new L90 t/t - they printed basically every trip on the L90 on Saturday as wheelchair accessible!

Yes I did mean that. Old artics would have regularly gone to UNSW as well on the 891 services provided by Brookvale (I think I'm right in saying that :?: )

Which timetable is that? The website version, December 2005, doesn't show any Saturday L90 services as wheelchair accessible.

I saw 2557 at layed up at Bondi Jcn interchange with special up today.
To my surprise it had Port Botany accreditation on the side as well as P run plates.
What's the deal here?Is it being used for training only?

There is a new one printed, dated 13 August 2006. Most of the Sunday trips are also wheelchair and half of the weekday ones are too.

I can't remember if I read or was told by a driver that due to high petrol prices. STA patronage has gone up alot, withing the last few months meaning that the 3 merc bendis that were at Brookvale, now at Port Botany, will be going into driver training and then into full time service than to scrap them. The merc bendis and possibly the MK 2's are staying in service a bit longer than originally planned.

No they're not getting volvos, if moving O305G's to depots new to bendies was part of the training process for the volvo bendies, a few would of gone to Y and W, this did not happen. Join the dots my friend
