AEC Decker is commenting after picking himself up off the floor.
at the first and second photos
The DGT didn't waste any time. The trams were still running and they had already starting filling in North Bondi terminus.
at third photo and falls off chair
AEC air door 2513 would have been only 8 years old at that time.
at fourth photo, as I remember Oxford St when it looked like that, but after the trams had gone.
at the AEC 31 seater in Spring St, where I have caught countless DGT AEC buses on route 390 to Gibson St, Waverley and 329s (always AEC 31 seaters) on Sundays.

Re: Sydney memories 1959.
Thanks "boronia" More great photographs as usual
The houses and shops around the North Bondi terminus haven't really changed that much over the years.
I was born in May, 1959 and these photographs of 1959 are just so interesting to see.
I remember AEC 2513 & 2542 very well. Love the Qantas ads on 2513
I also recall the old church opposite Grace Bros. at the Junction and when the 314 use to terminate and depart from Spring Street. The Junction sure has changed.
Thanks again for the memories
Here's a photograph of AEC 2542 from my collection taken 20 years later on 14/3/79 just prior to its withdrawal from traffic.

Please excuse the poor quality of this photograph!

I think the Gibson St service was 313 in those days.AEC Decker wrote:

Look at the bloke boarding through the rear door on 2542. I can't imagine having a bus that small with a conductor today!

I actually rode 2542 that morning from George St, Wynyard (it was inbound on a route 500) to the Quay to get this photo and I also thought it quaint to see a conductor on it
Ryde/Leichhardt were short of buses at the time and a couple of 31 seaters were on loan from Willoughby. From memory 2521 & 2547 were also around on the 500's & 433's the previous and following mornings.

Re: Sydney memories 1959.
You've done well again boronia.
I've finally found out what Bondi tram terminus looked like. They certainly didn't waste any time ripping it up.
The cars and truck in Oxford Street are also interesting.
DeSoto trucks weren't as common as their stablemate Dodge.
Cars passing the church look like a Ford Customline, very good they were, followed by a Plymouth
