Last known as having been withdrawn from Sugar Valley 1/03 - no record of it having gone to Morisset according to the fleet lists.

Were there any other full bodies built by Alnor or just this one ? I know they did some modifications of ex UTA Leopards for Leslies and perhaps others, but this is the only full Alnor body I've ever seen images of.

I'm having trouble reading what the make of the chassis is.
It looks vaguely like L E Y L A N D to me.

.....as it happens, looking at the last photo, the overly prominent LEYLAND badging was replaced at some point by a more traditional 'cat' badge.

The chassis under this bus came from MTT Adelaide jumbo Leyland Worldmaster 835 which became Hunter Hill m/o-4576 in 1973.

The fleet lists do not conform this as this bus has a 1983 body while m/o 4576 is shown as having been reregd m/o 7856 with North & Western in 1987.

That link you provided has a couple of nice CVI bodied buses with the winged badge and blue triangle that I can't quite read either.

I have split the two quotes which both show the same chassis number but there is still a date discrepancy, m/o 4576 shown as reregd m/o 7656 early 1987 while the body date of the Alnor is earlier in 1983.

Possibly the date of the rereg is incorrect. The red 7121 in the fleet list is obviously incorrect.

Quite ironic that the Panther chassis on the bus to it's left in Pete Kane's Sugar Valley pic is 10 years or so newer than the Alnor's .
This bus is very reminiscent of Oliveri's now retired fleet of Austral rebodies on ex Adelaide Leyland Worldmaster chassis.
Would love to see a dash shot of this Alnor bus.

Looks like they painted up the wheels first in anticipation of this upcoming rebody.
There really wasn't anything wrong with the Lawton's body. Probably more rattle free than the one that replaced it. :!:

When the MTT took over all the Adelaide privates in the mid 70s, each of the fleets http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... =6&t=72567 were given a separate 4-digit code. The Bowman’s fleet were all numbered in the 71xx range, so 7121 may have been an ex MTT vehicle that was sold to Bowman’s and then reacquired.

The rereg of 4576 to 7656 in 1987 seems about right, it was actually a plate swap with a 1986 Leyland Tiger. It was one of the last Worldmasters, being withdrawn in 1992 with the plates going onto a Hino RG197K. In the picture above, 7656 is displaying route 530, so must have been some time post 1990.

Have a vague recollection that Alnor completed one other body, possibly on a Bedford or Hino.

Thank You for that information.
That then again throws some doubt on the Alnor having that chassis as it was built in 1983 while the one at Hunters Hill and then North & Western was not withdrawn until 1992.

Ahhh so 7656 was the sole unit that got the North and Western livery and lost it's splitty rear window for a single pane job.
Explains the white wheels. Gosh they stand out (but look surprisingly good -and clean!) with the HHBC livery.
I saw three HHBC livered ones sitting together with their rears facing Victoria Rd from the Monash Rd depot in 1993 when we drove past at night time.
I only ever seemed to see that CVI Leyland you see behind, sitting at the Monash Rd depot. I can't ever recall seeing it on a route.
