Hi
recent record crowds for T20 cricket in Hobart provided some bus interest in handling the punters.
Friday night metro provided 10 artics and 4 rigids but those choosing the free bus as an option seemed down on normal so the capacity available wasnt fully used.
Last night it would seem Metro had some challenges providing the service (probably due to the overlap with evening peak rosters) as only 4 artics and 9 rigids were rostered. This included 3 vehicles from ODriscolls (one of which was a coach).
This was unfortunate as patronage seemed to return to more normal levels for this game, resulting in quite a few standing loads arriving at the ground and then initially running out of buses during the return movement at the end of the game.
The Volvo artics are certainly the heavy lifters of the fleet though with superior seating capacity and plenty of room for standees in comparsion to the newer smaller capacity artics. It will be pity when they all are retired as even more replacements will be needed to keep capacity up for cricket and footy traffic which needs encouragement to grow further as the % of the total game patrons that travel by bus is still quite low.
Phil
