artic 706 preservation - longest serving??

Post by tasstockau »

Hi

As advised in the observations forum, PMC Articulated Volvo of 1985 is destined for preservation when withdrawn in the coming months.

I believe this would have to be one of the longest serving government buses in Australia.

Discounting those that might have passed from government ownership to private ownership and back again, or those converted to non passenger duties such as tyre buses or trainers, or municipal operators (for the sake of an argument perhaps BCC might be deemed government to keep the Queenslanders in the race??) how many challengers are there for a longer continuous serving government bus in Australia??

wont be many that have managed over 30 years - possibly over the war years somewhere?

Transperth had two Mercedes O305G's in service past 31 years - one ended up 33 years old (1979 - 2012).

Cheers!
Officially the last person to tag off the 381 - 20/5/16.
Second last person to tag off the last timetabled 16 - 23/08/19.
Last person to tag off a Transdev Joondalup service - 19/1/20.

entry into service date with MTT was 29th April 1985.

705 entered service same day and 707 the day after.

That throws Transperth out of the water - our oldest is 28 years old.

Because we already know that. Hence posing the question of other states.
