Central Coast Snapshots: Red Bus

Post by Craig »

In late July I spent two nights on the Central Coast. Here is a selection of the Red Bus vehicles I snapped during my stay.

Tuesday 28 July:

Image
#69 (Iveco Metro, Express) on a Gosford - North Gosford loop service.

Wednesday 29 July:

Image
#65 (Iveco Metro, Custom) about to leave Gosford for semi-rural Matcham.

Image
Another Gosford - North Gosford loop, this time run by #18 (Iveco Metro, Express)

Image
#93 (Iveco Metro, Custom) on a 23 from Gosford to The Entrance.

Image
Wearing an AOA for Express Lube, #55 (Iveco Metro, Custom)

Image
Enroute to North Entrance #8 (Iveco Metro, Express)

Image
Arriving Gosford Railway Station, #11 (Hino RG230, Express)

Image
On Driver Training, #42 (Iveco Metro, Express) manoeuvres around #85 (Iveco Metro, Custom)

Image
51 (Hino RG197K, Motorcoach) travels north along Mann St, Gosford.

Image
At Bay Village, #74 (Iveco Metro, Express) on a 25 to Wyong via Tuggerah Business Park.

#65 again

Image
#46 (Iveco Metro, Custom) crosses The Entrance Channel

Image
Returning from North Entrance, #88 (Iveco Metro, Custom)

Image
#21 (Iveco Metro, Express) waits departure from The Entrance.

Image
#85 (Iveco Metro, Custom) departs Wyong

Image
Image
During the PM school peak, a hybrid 30/47 service operates to Bateau Bay Square via South Tacoma & Ourimbah. Rather than misleading passengers into taking the 47 which will take around 40 mins longer than more direct options, Bateau Bay Square is a mere footnote on the desto. The desto is updated again mid-trip. Seen here is #7 (Iveco Metro, Express).

Image
#62 (Iveco Metro, Custom) runs a late afternoon trip through Bay Village.

Image
#7 again, seen here at Erina Fair.

Image
#82 (Iveco Metro, Custom)

Image
#32 (Iveco Metro, Express) wears an AOA for Chemist Outlet Discount Chemist.

Image
#85 again, this time at Erina Fair.

Image
Collecting evening commuters, #75 (Iveco Metro, Express)

Image
#85 at Gosford Station.

Image
Of the many routes running from Gosford & Wyong to The Entrance, Route 17 is the best bet. #45 (Iveco Metro, Express) runs a late PM peak trip.

Thursday 30 July:

Image
#31 (Iveco Metro, Express)

Image
On a run to Springfield & Erina Fair, #51 (Iveco Metro, Custom)

Image
Trips on Route 40 generally only run via Wyoming Shops once each time 'round the North Gosford loop, either before Gosford Private Hospital or after passing through Bradys Gully. The 08:18 trip however runs here twice. Here #58 (Iveco Metro, Custom) has just passed the shops for the first time and is now heading south down Henry Parry Dr.

Image
On a school run along Glennie St, North Gosford is #18

Image
Heading back towards Wyoming Shops for a second time, #58 turns right from Glennie St into Jarrett St.

Kind Regards

Nice pics.

Even ''Ourimbah'' on the 47 from Wyong is probably misleading. There are far better transport options. :)

Springfield then Gosford / Erina Fair is a nice touch.

Looking at Gosford station now and the bus terminal how things have changed I can still remember going home from high school and still remember Roberts backing there buses in where the signal box was.

How do you pronounce IVECO? I caught one of the Express bodied ones the other day and was very impressed at the ride, performance and quality of the body.
I have always pronounced it with the letter 'i' sounding like the 'i' in the word 'igloo' then the rest but heard it pronounced 'Eye-vekko' in a recent radio commercial. :?

Why don't they just show route 30 until the terminus then change the whole desto to route 47 at the 30 terminus?
First person on 822, 865 (2016 re-route).
Last person on 164, 867, 868

I presume that the concern would be someone might be waiting at Wyong to go to Mardi or Fountaindale and would not realise they need to hop the 30.

Definitely "eye-VECK-oh"; company I work for supplies them with windscreen wiper motors, and that's the pronuncification they use on the 'phone.

Doesn't mean they are right. It seems to be the common way it is pronounced here. Not by me however.
Maybe the clue lies with what the name represents. Italian Vehicle Company?
