[Jan 2015] SA Transport observations
A New Year is upon us; Happy new year to you all, may all your hopes and dreams for this year come to fruition.
The last year has seen the opening of the new Adelaide Oval, with very successful public transport catering to events at the upgraded stadium, the introduction of new electric railcars on the extended Seaford line, opening of the South Road Superway and duplicated Southern Expressway. The introduction of a double decker bus on a trial J1X service to Adelaide Airport marked the return of double deckers to Adelaide's suburban route bus services after many years.
With the steady introduction of electric 4000 class railcars, the withdrawal of the 2000 class 'Jumbo' railcars draws closer. Make sure you get your rides, videos and photos before it's all too late!
The imported Scania double decker commences services between Adelaide and Mt. Barker on Monday 12 January 2015.
Timetable changes are mooted for January 25 - refer to this thread for more details: http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... =6&t=79618
The Tour Down Under returns this month for another year.
So, post your South Australian transport observations here that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread.
May the new year provide many interesting enthusiast opportunities!

The Talky Box with arrivals info at Midlunga rail station east side does not respond to push button requests. It does supply auto updates.
That's the way the whole thing started, silly but it's true ...

Burst water main on Beovich Rd has 203/209 detouring.
One assumes the 565 is still thundering through the gushing water?

On the way to Mt Barker yesterday saw Scania K230UD #3401 on route T840. Then again today I saw it again. This was after on Tuesday I caught Bustech CDi #1790! (And I must say, 3401 actually looks quite good )

Toady I had my first ride on the Seaford Electric train. I think that it is a very smooth line, and that the trains are ghostly quiet! Also, on the return journey, I sat backwards so I could be up the front. Approaching Christie Downs station, I heard a strange rolling noise. Then a three quarters full can of Solo hits my shoe! I say three quarters full because of the amount of Solo on the floor . At Hallett Cove Beach, as we went around a corner, It rolled to the other side of the carriage, and then back to my side when we turned the next corner. When we were stopping at Hallett Cove, I saw that there was still some liquid in the can, and it was leaking out so I picked it up and put is on its base. I can only hope that the idiot who left the can there in the first place was seen on the CCTV cameras.

Saw Torrens' Scanias 1929 and 1931 both on the road in service today. Haven't seen 1930 yet but I assume around the place. I assume all Sydney built.
Re: [Jan 2015] SA Transport observations
1930 sighted this afternoon.

Re: [Jan 2015] SA Transport observations
I realised something yesterday as 3375 thundered past me on the 878 as I was walking to school: I actually quite like the look of the CB80s. They remind me of the 0305(G)s, with the way that the roof is curved and the fact that there are so many. I may be alone in liking them, but it is my opinion. It also begs the question: what bus type and body will replace the SL202/NL202/11.190s? I am sort of hoping that they go for some Volgrens now that local jobs aren't on the line, as when it comes to riding buses, I still prefer Hills' Volgrens to the CB80s.
