Yes what exactly are you referring to? It wouldn't be fair to pay someone the same amount to work at McDonalds as to be an Engineer. Nor would it be fair to pay one Engineer the same amount as another if one has 20 years more experience and skills than the other. If you are talking in terms of based on gender, then I would agree somewhat, but I think a person's individual income needs to be relevant to how much responsibility, skills and experience their role possess, rather than equality among others and irrespective of what gender they are.

I would agree with you.... even if there a 2 people in the same role, they may get paid silghtly differently, but a boss gotta give a pretty good reason for it (and not something like your a girl, retarded, whatever).... should more like be, that guy worked here longer than you, he has experience and so fourth....

This is why the feminest movement is bull****.... they have just as equal right as males, and if not maybe more in terms of the court (particularly with family court) being female biased.... the reason why females whinge about not being manager is because they don't show that determination, and also they don't have that much common sense in comparison to males... (not being sexist, but its quite true)

Equal pay for equal work for women. There is a 17% gender pay gap that needs to be addressed.

Because if you pay EVERYONE in the country the same amount, that is communism. But I do not think that gender should make a difference how much you get paid. If a guy has been an accountant for 10years and a gal has been an accountant for 10years they should get paid the same.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the "pay gap" really only exists because women are predominantly in lower-paid jobs? That they're not actually getting paid 17% less for doing the same job as a man?

No? :?

There is already equal pay. Female school teachers get paid the same as male ones. Female politicians get paid the same as male ones. Female McDonalds workers get paid the same as male ones. In fact, there are no occupations in which women are paid less than men, ust because they are women. It has been illegal to do so, for a long time now.

The reason that, in aggregate, women are paid less, is because they work less. They work more part time. They quit their jobs more often. They won't do the hard or inconvenient jobs. They retire earlier. Women are, in aggregate, slacker, because socially they can get away with being slacker. They are not subjected to continual personal judgment on the thickness of their wallet, in the way that men are.

Women can travel and spend their way through their 20's with the at least plausible expectation that they will find some guy who can buy them a house. That doesn't work, the other way around.

Well I don’t know if anybody would agree with my ideas but here are a few.

To make it far easier for people to employ workers eliminate payroll tax, GST, compulsory super, maternity leave and workers compensation insurance which would be replaced with a modest pension until death and a type of NDIS regardless if you were injured at work or not.

The elimination of compulsory superannuation would also allow governments to build the necessary infrastructure with the extra tax instead of having to go begging to the big casino people.

Remove the tax rebate on diesel fuel completely to encourage investment in green technology. I know this may really be hard for the bush but perhaps we could make it up to them somehow.

Declare an Australia wide Aboriginal day on whatever day they decide, it would give them recognition that they were here first and Australians could do with an extra long weekend.

Precisely! Along the lines of what you've said, this is a must-read. What you're looking at is institutionalised misandry.

Yawn. There are plenty of jobs where women are statistically paid less than men for equivalent roles and responsibilities. They are mostly white-collar private sector roles where EBAs are not applicable or salaries are paid above award rates. You haven't researched very hard.

I would make a requirement that if an old thread is to be resurrected, it must be accompanied by at least 200 words of meaningful information.

Well I would immediately initiate a swap of the Nauru refugees for some unnecessary Australians. Those who would be imprisoned on Nauru for the rest of their natural lives (or until executed at my pleasure) would include:

- the producers and presenters/ judges of all TV shows related to cooking/ renovation/ singing/ weight loss/ dancing and dating thus allowing the return of entertaining television to the 7.30pm - 8.30pm time slot.

- feral cyclists

- Greens politicians

- the terminally unemployed (you know who you are)

This would allow the introduction of extensive grants for bus rail and tram preservation

Then we might get on with doing something even more useful for the country.
