Heads up crew, change of policy by the RTA here in NSW. Seems if you are in the middle of a build and don't look like finishing within the next couple of months, (2 to 3) you are going to have a problem, like me. I am past mid way into the build, probably another 12 months to go, work wise and financially, steel work done and interior lining done. Now the problem. My engineer isn't going to continue with the previous RTA system and is opting out. Where does that leave the likes of us, FIND another new signatory to the RTA system and pay more fees. As I see it at the moment whatever I do I need the NEW engineer to either accept the old engineers work and just pick up where he left off or start over somewhere along the line where the new bloke is happy with the work already done.
No idea where the pen pushers at the RTA came up with brilliant idea but it certainly is going to be expensive either way for the likes of us. Even producing photos of the previous work already completed isn't clear yet, depends on the incoming engineer.
Not a good situation at this stage for us mid way done builders.
Dirk
