At about 7:00pm the lights in the underpass at Blackburn station weren't working so they had somebody standing at the bottom of the ramp to the island platform shining a torch so people could see where they were going.

I don't know if people had to "wait for the light to change" if they wanted to go to/from the other direction.

Trains are out until 11AM tomorrow - everything's out of position so it will take that long to get everything back in place.

Some nice footage for Crown on the tv there Adrian!

I understand the frustration for passengers in the afternoon peak hour. But all the hype about morning chaos. Its all a bit dramatic. Assuming the traffic is not at a standstill on the Geelong fwy. Its actually slightly quicker by bus going express from Geelong - Melbourne than going via the train. A few years ago i drove a Express trip from Geelong station - Southern Cross departing at approx 8am. It was an overload bus to the train for passengers who didnt have reserved seats. Most passengers didnt want to come on the bus and elected to stand on the train, i carried about 10 people to Melbourne and to start with they were annoyed to be going on the bus, but suddenly annoyance turned to happiness when i arrived at Southern Cross at least 10 minutes before the train would have. & they got a nice clean comfotable coach.

People will just whinge at anything that ruins their daily routine & are quick to abuse those who are there helping them get home or to work.

I was out there watching & getting photos of the buses coming in this morning and all seemed to be quite well organised and ran very smoothly.

South Morang station: A smoother ride beckons
WITH less than two weeks until the South Morang train station opens, residents have been invited to look at the facilities, meet their station master and even take a ride.

Public Transport Victoria chief Ian Dobbs said the gates to the new station would open from 10am to noon on Saturday, April 14 to give residents the chance to get a closer look before full sevices start.

Part of the open day will include a free shuttle train between South Morang and Epping stations.

The launch of regular services from South Morang on April 22 will mark the end of more than a year of work and the project's last stage, the 3.5 kilometre extension of double tracks from Epping.

The South Morang project aims to improve public transport to a rapidly growing area.

The new station will offer parking for 450 cars, bike cages and an integrated bus interchange.

Good to know that my taxes are going to pay for some more fancy-arse stickering when they can't even get a ticketing system right, or fix crumbling infrastructure.

It cost $25 million to rebrand the trains from Connex to Metro in the first place, and now with more trains than before it'll probably cost even more to re-sticker trains because of a damn logo.

Where does the Government find all this extra money lying around to put new stickers on trains when they can't even get the basics right?
Here's a thought, FIX THE INFRASTRUCTURE and worry about stickers.
Metcard. Your ticket to Melbourne.

What is the exact wording of this message? I haven't had a chance to ride a train in a while especially living in inner city.

I don't travel on the train much these days either (dedicated 902 user) but I believe it's "myki will replace Metcard in 2012. You can switch to myki now. Visit myki.com.au"

Kind Regards

The sets are currently sitting at Glen Waverley. They also have PTV logos beside most carriage doors instead of the Metro logos.

I think i know what Bradley will be doing tomorrow!

Was on the 11:25 dn Pakenham with jarf, stopped at South Yarra but driver didn't open the doors, then departed and crawled slowly to Hawksburn where the train stopped and the driver announced the train had a braking fault and would terminate there, passengers instructed to board a Frankston service to Caulfield then pick up the following train.

Did that, boarded a Cranbourne service running 9 minutes late due to being stuck behind the faulty train, driver announced on departure from Murrumbeena that there was fatality and trains were terminating at Westall so decided to give up and go back to the city given how much bad luck we'd had already in trying to get down there!

Not a good first day of the new timetable.
