The extra shifts will probably dry up now you're not here! :(

Although with a 4 day week next week, I'm sure I'll find an extra 1 or 2 days.

Eddie, I'm amazed that you're physically up to all these extra shifts. I'm finding just doing my regular shifts pretty exhausting, but then I am a few years older than you.. :|

He seems to be a bit of workaholic. And its ironic he always advises of his availability and within a few hours an appropriate shift comes up

Whats the deal with Ventura, or Dysons or Grenda/Peninsula, regarding hiring drivers for Night Rider work only? Anyone got any idea?

Just curious...

I'm just happy to help out, there could come a day when the fridge dies and I'll ask for an extra shift because I need it, perhaps my good deeds will be remembered.

I cant speak for Dysons, but put simply, Grenda has taken on hiring casuals to cover Nightrider shifts, as often not all the shifts can be covered using the existing workforce. At Grenda, I know they have several people who work as casual school bus drivers, and then do a night on Nightrider to boos their pay. That said, whenever existing full time drivers at Grenda want to put their names on the Nightrider roster, they will usually get a shift if it fits in with their normal weekday roster.

Stage 2 is the two weeks out with a trainer :)

Met some of the guys today.. saw Eddies name on the roster but didn't meet him :D
Went around and saw several of the runs. Back tomorrow with Trevor.

Bludge of a day today, just being a passenger.. but was still interesting seeing some of the routes

Personally, I think that the Knox depot runs are very diffucult for me to do. I would prefer doing the Doncaster runs, due to the fact that I have lived in manningham area for a long time.

Lets move backwards to where you did your first interview. When I did my interview there, the lady hassled me once every three minutes while I was taking the written test. She said that I could take my time to do the test, but it turned out in an opposite way.

Hi guys,

Well.. one year on.

The guys are good. The environment is a little challenging at times in the depot and out of it with "interesting" management and of course traffic and buses.
The downside is the long hours. Have been doing lots of 11 hour days which has cut into the personal life a bit more than I'd like. I'm still working relief and waiting on a permanent day shift and the nights, long hours and weekend work tends to usurp the social life.
Otherwise, I am enjoying it still.

Easy, there are only three challenges to driving a bus. Hours, fellow road users and passengers.

Hi Demon...

offer of contract is provided at the beginning of employment, before you start and has to be returned to the Fitzroy office from memory

You only get issued with shirts, parka type things, large windcheater type jumper thingy.. pants. No shoes or socks or undies. :D
Have seen all sorts of shoes.. no preference. I think they prefer black but then again have seen sneakers.. not that I'd wear them. I just have a pair of black shoes. Black boots in winter.

Do the Ventura drivers get the latest increase in pay that was announced a couple of weeks ago (low income)??? I think I heard 2.9% to all workers, so that would take the rate up to about $23.50 p/h... AND what about the CBA, is there another increase this year??? Only asking, as I am starting on Monday... :)

Ventura' drivers work under an agreement between Ventura and the drivers; will not get the 2.9% increase awarded to minimum wage workers and have wage increases at times and rates as specified under this agreement. Industrial agreements can be found on the Fair Work Australia website at http://www.fwa.gov.au/
