It will be better to be spent to buy 5000 buses to replace the entire Central Coast, Newcastle, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Southern Highlands Services - which will be 90% cheaper - Metroline

Is this now regular? Possibly saw a 4 car K-Set in place of a few 2 car K-Set services.
Also the other day the 16:08 (or 16:06?) Newcastle - Gosford K-Set was over 20 minutes late. Wonder why.

And on that note, information suggests that an Oscar set is to replace a K-Set and do some of the Newcastle Suburban Morisset runs. So "downgrading" the service again - with rocks for seats, oh wait rocks are more comfortable to sit on!

I would much prefer an Oscar to a K set any day of the week even to distant locations like Kiama.

And some new H sets are already much better in terms of seating.
I travelled on the 8.42pm Civic to Gosford service on 2K, mate it is definitely a torture!
Though 2Ks are definitely faster than 4K and 8Ks, there's no headrest and even worse, there are no toilets on board for an hour trip!

Also for a train that runs at a high speed at 125 km/h I believe it is dangerous for any passengers to across to another carriage which is not fully enclosed. It is a safety thing and I will definitely support H sets to immedaitely replace K Sets on Newcastle - Gosford service.

I am sure that K to H is an upgrade not a downgrade. Because:
1. We have seats with headrests
2. We have toilets on the train
3. We have fully enclosed passageway between carriages
4. We have CCTVs on the Lower Hunter Line, upgrading safety standards for passengers.
5. We have trains that is wheelchair friendly.

Emu Plains to North Sydney can be around 1 hr 20 mins, but commuters survive without toilets or headrests.

There should be little reason for moving between carriages once the train is moving, pax won't be looking for toilets.

It's 1 hour 6min from Macarthur to Central, No complaints there. I'd seriously rather no toilets on trains, but better frequency so, if you had to do your business, you could get off at a station, go to the toilet and not have to wait 30min for the next train. Won't happen soon, looks like it's holding it in or going to the disgusting public toilet or the one at home before boarding train.

I think 99% of people would favour the Oscars over a K-Set.

Yes. Starting later this year, all Newcastle K-Sets will eventually be replaced by 4 car Oscars.

Any train built in Newcastle should be deployed in Newcastle and no where else! Let them enjoy the "fruits" of their labours. :)

Then would you suggest to remove toilets on Hunter Cars and OSCARs for more seats and less overcrowding?
Remember Emu Plains passengers can change at Parramatta for a faster Blue Mountains Line service which contains toilets on board during AM/PM Peak!

Might as well take the toilets out. City Rail doesn't care if you have to wait.

Why would Emu Plains passengers go to Parra to change for a BM line service, when BM trains stop at Emu Plains ??

I don't get why no one travels inside the toilets when it's standing room only. If you don't get the seat on the toilet, at least you aren't touching anyone else shoulder to shoulder. No one would even use the toilet during peak hour, as it's too troublesome to get through other sardines.

I've travelled on an OSCAR Kiama service where people stood for 1 1/2 hours Sydney to Wollongong including standing in the toilets it was so packed. After a while people started dropping to the floor one by one but they couldn't bring themselves to sit on the toilet floor!

At about 1330 yesterday I travelled on an all stations service from Padstow to Mascot and guess which station seemed to be the busiest?

None of them, because the majority had already boarded at Macarthur-Holsworthy?

Does anybody know wether it will be V, T or H sets doing the easter show specials from Springwood/Newcastle/Gosford to Olympic Park?

I would love to see them use H sets, if for nothing else than seeing the stopping patterns on the PID lol

Probably a bit like waiting outside a public toilet? A lil sus? :P

Or if someone does use it and drops a big one - well.....

That is not how the service works.

This seems to be the case for me, especially during Peak when the several after Holsworthy up to Green Square try to squeeze into the already packed carriage.

With Royal Easter Show, apart from the Blue Mountains, Newcastle and Western additional services, just wondering are there any capacity increases for other lines?
I recalled South Coast Line did deploy 8Ts to replace 4V/4H for daytime services and an extra 10.40pm departure. Will some trains on Sector 3 becomes 8 Cars instead of 6 and unscheduled extra services take place on other lines to convey passengers?

And what does 1330 have to do with the peak?

Weekend TT over the Easter break, April 6-9 so no 6 car sets on the Sector 3
