Honestly give is a big miss. Finishing off a bus is an astronomical mammoth project at the best of times for an experienced metal / woodworker or any one for that matter. Costs just blow the doors off your budget. Getting is finished professionally is very expensive to. Even the up front money this bloke is asking is a bit iffy. Running a bus of that size, fuel wise is also not for the faint hearted they don't go far on a litre of diesel. Put your money into a finished and existing up and running smaller motor home.

Motor home of any size is definitely going to be way cheaper than doing up and running a 40 foot bus. Depends on just how much living space you are going to need. Think about this one long and hard. Are you going for a very long time or short time.

Check out the Caravan and Motor Home Club, do some searches there, there are also a few women traveling around single. They might be able to also give you some advice and experience. Link is here, http://www.cmca.net.au/pages/membership/index.php you have to join up for the forum, but worth is in your case.

Hope you do OK.

NSW rego cost me almost $1500 per year for my 30ft bedford.
There are 2 football teams with a swear word in there name. Arsenal and #%$#ing Manly.

Hello Brydee,,Cant give you any contacts down south but if you contact Motor Home Conversions,,Slacks Creeck Qld,,( John Jeffrey ) a good bloke,no nonsense advice and the units he sells and builds are all warranted and reliable,,Are you going to use van parks or free camp ( free camps is the way to go ) Vav parks become very expensive and many of them dont like big rigs,,Tell Mr Jeffrey your preference and you will be given the correct advice,,( he is honest and his prices are vey fair )
Google Motor Home Conversion Company and you will get some idea of his units and their costs,,Do you have a HR license?? you will need it for a bus that size,,fuel consumption is another factor as you will not get a lot of Klms to the litre 3-5 would be the best you can expect, will it travel at 90kph comfortably,if not it becomes a long day not to mention upsetting the Big Boys of the road ( think of being stuck behind that caravan doing 70kph or less that I am sure you have experienced
I ,Regrettably opted to bild my own unit out,11.5 metre merc, but would have saved about 20 thou if I had of bought from M H C,not to mention the headaches,Yes its nice to say I did it myself,But the experts know how to get it done cheaper and when thewy are honest you end up way out in front
Good Luck,See you on the road Bunyip
PS the CMCA is also very good to be a member of for all types of advice etc
